Got news recently that one of the sickos who trafficked one of our girls here, just got 15 years jail. Great Victory. Also had to pay huge compensation to the girl. Another HUGE win!! Thank you to everyone who supports Destiny Rescue. Your help is working to make Cambodia a safer place for these girls.

Topic started by jackoslife

Prayer in the Brothels of Mumbai, India (Current Missionary Report)

My mother-in-law is serving as a missionary doctor in Mumbai for 3 weeks. This is an E-mail update from her team. It's an incredible testimony to the power of prayer in the name of Jesus. Here is the account of today's activity...

Dear Prayer Partners,

Hi brothers and sisters, my name is Denise and I am a physician
assistant on the Mumbai team. I just wanted to update you on our
prayer requests and thank you so much for praying for our team. The
day was beautiful and dark in many ways. A few of the team members,
including me, were able to visit one of the brothels, it was a very
dark place and it was hard to believe that so many young women live in
such bondage.

The women's eyes at the brothel were so empty and void,
and we were so fortunate to be able to pray with a few of the women
who have found Jesus Christ. Please pray that these women will see
God's light and will get out of this bondage in the future.

During the clinic time in the afternoon, our pharmacist (Anita) and pharmacist's
helper (Colette) were able to pray with all of the patients that came
to the pharmacy, They were praying with pimps, brothels owners, and
women who are victims.

While and after praying, these patients were so
at peace due to God's presence and they didn't want to leave the
pharmacist. Anita said it was as though they were drinking in peace as
though they hadn't had peace in 100 years. It was amazing, God's work
is amazing!

Topic started by Craig from Illinois

This shop is a specialist in skin care and today I found out they have a project to fight human trafficking. I got involved in their fun activities, signed their petition and it looks like I have a new place to buy my toiletries. If you have a store near you check it out and support somebody who is fighting this plague.

Topic started by jackoslife

I watched the documentary "Very Young Girls" about child trafficing in New York. I still cannot believe what these young children are experiencing. GEMS is a program which helps these young girls. The movie was very moving and I feel like what GEMS is doing is truly a blessing.

Topic started by Shay

My new friend Wally

Tonight I was dining at an outdoor table in the early evening at Dandos. An elderly homeless aboriginal man was wandering along the footpath and came over to me looking for some money. I told him to forget the money, he was going to have a feed of chicken with me and it wasn't going to cost a thing. I ordered him half a chicken and chips and sat talking to him. He was hard to understand, but I tried to shine the love of God at him. I asked what he'd done today and he said he was drinking under the bridge. I gave him a lift over to the South side of town and told him about a guy who died on a cross for him so he could have a better life. Told him that he should try to go see the Salvos rather than drinking under the bridge. Told him that we are no different to each other, we both need God to help us survive this world. Despite not getting a drink out of me, I think he appreciated that some people will take time to try to help others in trouble. Pray for Wally.

Topic started by jackoslife

2 replies. Last reply from jackoslife on 7/31/2010 1:33 PM

The Pope's Intentions for May 2010

Human Trafficking. That the shameful and monstrous trafficking in human beings, which sadly involves millions of women and children, may stop.

The world's poor are easy prey for those who wish to profit from the slave market. Many in rich countries like our own purchase women and children to exploit. Slaves are raped, tortured, put to hard labor, and even forced to have babies who are also sold as slaves. The Pope asks us to hear the cries of the millions and pray for the end of this shameful and monstrous trafficking in human beings.

The problem is especially difficult because those who are enslaved sometimes cannot or do not understand that they are victims. Desperate because of poverty, war, or disaster, they seek to escape the hardship and danger of their circumstances. They are fooled by promises of adoption, marriage, and employment. Once sold, they are typically isolated, afraid, ashamed, unable to speak the language of their captors, and ignorant of laws and social services that would rescue them and allow them to live in freedom.
As many as 17,000 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year from Asia, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe. The U.S. State Department reports that they are exploited for prostitution, pornography, domestic servitude, sweatshop labor, and migrant agricultural work.

In her book, The Sacred Bath: An American Teen's Story of Modern Day Slavery, Theresa Flores tells how at 15 she was drugged, raped, and tortured for two years in an upper-class suburb in Detroit. After 20 years of silence, she began telling her story to help others. Now a licensed social worker, she works at Gracehaven, a safe home in Dublin, Ohio, for girls under 18 who have been sexually exploited.

How can we help end human trafficking? Let's pray, offering ourselves to God each day this month on behalf of the victims. Praying for the Pope's intention helps us be aware of the enormity of the problem of human trafficking - awareness we can share with those around us.

Reflection:
How can you make others compassionately aware of human trafficking?

Reading:
Luke 4:16-19 Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went...into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found a passage where it was written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives..."

Prayer of the Month

Father, of all, I ask that you grant freedom and comfort to the millions of women, girls, men, and boys who are enslaved throughout the world. End their exploitation and abuse. Awaken the consciences of those who buy, sell, and hold them as slaves. Make people aware that this violation of human rights is among us and growing, even in the United States. Give wisdom to lawmakers and law enforcement. Help me live in your hope until all God's children are free. Amen.
Topic started by Catholica

TED Talk - Sunitha Krishnan
http://www.ted.com/talks/sunitha_krishnan_tedindia.html

Each year, some two million women and children, many younger than 10 years old, are bought and sold around the globe. Impassioned by the silence surrounding the sex-trafficking epidemic, Sunitha Krishnan co-founded Prajwala, or "eternal flame," a group in Hyderabad that rescues women from brothels and educates their children to prevent second-generation prostitution. Prajwala runs 17 schools throughout Hyderabad for 5,000 children and has rescued more than 2,500 women from prostitution, 1,500 of whom Krishnan personally liberated. At its Asha Niketan center, Prajwala helps young victims prepare for a self-sufficient future.
Krishnan has sparked India's anti-trafficking movement by coordinating government, corporations and NGOs. She forged NGO-corporate partnerships with companies like Amul India, Taj Group of Hotels and Heritage Hospitals to find jobs for rehabilitated women. In collaboration with UN agencies and other NGOs, she established printing and furniture shops that have rehabilitated some 300 survivors. Krishnan works closely with the government to define anti-trafficking policy, and her recommendations for rehabilitating sex victims have been passed into state legislation.

"The sense that thousands and millions of children and young people are being sexually violated and that there’s this huge silence about it around me angers me."
Sunitha Krishnan

Topic started by Craig from Illinois

YWAM outreach for Human Trafficking

Hello Family,
After listening to the October month end review, I, along with many others of us no doubt, was awakened to the true problem of Human trafficking. I very much identified with Brian's feelings on this issue. Its outrageous. I work a standard 7-4 job, and, being as young as I am (22), felt pretty helpless to really do much about it. I live in the the San Luis Obispo area of California, and I had the privilege of meeting some YWAMers from the Pismo Beach YWAM Base who would be leading a DTS (Discipleship Training School) with a primary focus on justice and human trafficking. I told one of the staff members about the month-end review from the DAB and they were very excited to know that awareness on that scale was being promoted. They even listened to the podcast and hoped to get a chance to have the students listen to it on the DTS as well. Coming up here in April, the DTS staff of Pismo Beach, CA will be taking the students to Russia and China for an outreach to promote awareness and minister to victims of human trafficking in orphanages, shelters, churches, and hopefully even in schools and other public places. They are still praying much about the direction of the outreach, and are waiting on the response of their contacts in those countries. I would ask that the DAB family join me in prayer for their outreach and that God would use them to minister and touch as many lives as possible. If any are interested in supporting the cause, please email Natasha of the DTS Staff at lepomur4@yahoo.com. She can answer any questions about the outreach and support. I think it is wonderful that YWAM and other organizations are reaching out to fight this. Please support the cause, and pray for all of those out there who go and fight this issue across the globe. Thank you family for your prayers and support, and God bless you!

Topic started by MichaelJosh

Hi. This is Patrick (from Malta)
I called in on the windfarm live community prayer briefly and mentioned a couple of other ministries combatting trafficking so I thought I should post them here.
Love 146 is a great ministry working especially in the Philippines www.love146.org
Having witnessed child trafficking and all the horrors of the sex trade while I was living in Manila in 1985/86, it is very much on my heart to help there.
Since then I have discovered Project Rescue, working mostly in India www.projectrescue.com
Let's keep fighting wherever He leads and pursue abolition of the sex trade in every nation.
Patrick
www.ihopmalta.org

Topic started by PATRICK

Hi everyone it's Phillip. Every time I listen to the DAB podcast I'm appetized by the coffee that Brian advertises so well. I WANT SOME! LOL. I need to get my finances right and when I do I'll be purchasing some. The cause that the money goes to will warm me up just as much as the coffee. My prayers go out to those suffering so I don't mind supporting the people who are in need. I'm in Ohio and it's cold here so coffee's a good idea but so is my donation. It would make me feel good. My life is changing. I learned about tithing and offering. Giving is important to me. I think it's why we get blessed in the fist place. It would make me smile to see that come in the mail though. Thanks for all your prayers out there you guys. My Life's improving each day.

Topic started by phillip

Traffic: The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

Our friends at Exodus Cry are focusing on Vancouver right now because of the Olympics. At the last Windfarm event, Benji Nolot talked about how large national sporting events like the Olympics or the World Cup are often exploited by the sex trade.

The sex trade profits from large sporting events in two main ways:
1. Slaves are trafficed in to "service" tourists showing up for the events; and
2. Tourism is used as a cover to traffic slaves across borders

Windfarm, let`s pray in agreement for breakthroughs in law enforcement, discernment for border patrol officers, tougher government policies and let`s bind the spirits and principalities behind these criminal organizations. Most of all, let`s pray freedom for the captives.

I strongly believe that our prayers can affect real change. I have no doubt that prayer was a factor in this child porn bust in Surrey B.C., not far from Vancouver.
Reaction to the "WINDFARM TRAFFIC EVENT"

At last nights Windfarm “Traffic” event, I observed several different postures in the chat room. I saw sadness, anger, and hopelessness. Some entered into prayer immediately and some were ready to jump into physical action. Some said this issue can only be solved by God alone and someone thought it is hopeless and destined to continue forever. I had my own thoughts rolling through my head too, like being a “vigilantly superhero”!

Then I heard today’s (January 27, 2010) DAB podcast and commentary. I was educated by this quote from Brian . . . .

“We hear from God or a leader speaks into our lives things that resonate and we know at the deepest part of ourselves that it is the truth. It is even a word from God. We begin about that task of becoming free from or migrating to whatever the next season or assignment is in our lives. We’re excited about it. We formulate expectations about it. We then begin drawing up the plan about what it is going to look like, but it rarely looks that way. The path that God usually takes us on is the scenic route. We get very uncomfortable with that because we want it now. It is usually only through hindsight that we can see that, no, really, this is about a relationship with God. One of the things we say around here every year is the journey is the destination. This is about a relationship with God. He wants to show us things. He wants to teach us things. It is all about our sanctification. It is all about our becoming Christ-like. It is all about fellowship with him.”

Let’s think back to last night’s event again. I wonder how many of us were devising plans for ourselves, for Benji as the Exodus Cry leader and for Brian as our DAB leader? How many of us were devising a battle plan for God? With so many different postures and reactions, there has to be a flurry of pre-defined plans out there too!

So I am learning. I am learning to know where I am in my own journey with God and learning to let him guide me into the place and position that He finds fit. I’m taking a posture of humility, acknowledging publicly that I don’t have any pre-set expectations. I am simply in fellowship with Jesus and available for the call to His service.
Topic started by Craig from Illinois

We (the DAB family) are helping to support the Greenbergs in South Africa. They just arrived and are getting settled. They have been DAB listeners since the begining and the Bible in their lives every day gave them the courage to take their family overseas. They informed me that the FIFA World Cup is coming to South Africa next year and human trafficking has already begun to bring enough sex workers into the country ahead of the events. PRAY AGAINST THIS. According to CNN sex can be purchased in South Africa for 50r (about $7US)

Topic started by Brian Hardin

14 replies. It's a unique way to invite people to experience the Daily Audio Bible but more importantly it's a great way to spread the word about our work as a family to fight human trafficking.

www.facebook.com/freshbrewedjustice

Fan up and pass it along.

Brian

Topic started by Brian Hardin
