Dealing with Intense Feelings of Grief, Sorrow, Guilt, and Shame

Hello DAB family. I would like to request prayer for healing and relief from the constant state of depression, guilt, and shame for my wife leaving me back in July of this year. She took my precious little boys with her and moved to Indiana to live with her brother. Although this marriage has been far from perfect, I still miss them. Mainly my two little boys. They are Edward, age 7, and George, age 3. George is the apple of my eye as he is a little charmer, full of life, enthusiasm, and charisma. I miss my wife, Molly, age 35, too but, not as much as the boys due to the emotional and mental abuse I’ve endured from her for the past 10-years. I have autism and have done and given as much to this marriage as a human being could but, to no avail. My wife still left me in spite of it all. She showed little to no appreciation or respect for anything I did for her or the family. Toward the end of our relationship, we were basically living separate lives under one roof. She had her side of the house and I had mine. I should have known that when this arrangement began, it spelled the beginning of the end of things for us. I feel like a failure, like I’ve failed my family and myself. I feel guilty and ashamed of the fact that this happened. I know I’m not perfect but, I never thought this would ever happen to me. May Molly have a changed heart. Please don’t blame yourself. Get someone from church help you with praying and with Christian Counseling. I know, you’ll benefit a great deal. I think you’ll find comfort and encouragement here from all the global DABbers. ▪️ ❤️🩹 💔 I’m sorry you are going through this troubled time with great pain. (I’m divorced and clearly remember how devastating it was) 😩▪️ I found support from a group that met at a church nearby and I also found a Christian counselor that I saw on a regular basis to worked through all the minutia I couldn’t see myself through. Looking back now, I’m so glad I took those healthy steps that showed me how to process all the “muck.” I encourage you to seek some assistance so you don’t do this alone. God is with you Jeff. ▪️ Even if you don’t hear him, he’s still there. Trust. Keep seeking the Lord each day. Cry out to him with all that’s in you. He hears you and catches all your tears. November 25, 2023 at 7:05 amAbba Father! How You love sidersjeff! Comfort him in his grief and sorrow. Guide him, Holy Spirit, to recognize that guilt and shame are not of You. Lord, lead him to sit in Your Presence and find the solace he seeks there. As he studies Your Word, give him wisdom and insight into his situation and how he can pray effectively for Edward and George, and for Molly. Draw them all closer to You, Lord Jesus. O Lord, we know that we cannot do this life without YOU; draw us in to depend and abide in Your Love. Give us hearts to surrender to You and all that You have planned. Give us eyes to see You and to find solace there. We know You are working in Jeff’s behalf, O Lord, You are always working. Give him Your Peace that surpasses understanding. Help Jeff to not let his heart be troubled but to seek You and see Your redemptive plan at work. In Jesus’ Name!

I’m okay. Not great but, okay. I am very thankful for all of you who prayed and are praying for me and my family. Thank you all so much. I will admit, I’m a bit emotionally raw even after all the time that has gone by. Trying to push through my negative emotions and feelings to start an online business. It’s very difficult to say the least. I hope I’m not making another mistake. Haven’t made the best decisions in life but I definitely don’t regret having two beautiful boys. They are very precious to me. We got to see each other for Thanksgiving. It was a nice visit. We got to spend some good quality time together with plenty of hugs and kisses. My youngest, George, is such a little sweetheart. He is one of the most loving individuals I have ever seen. 😢 What should I do God? I don’t want to fail them again.

November 27, 2023 at 1:32 amHi Jeff, no words can heal the pain you feel right now. But flee to the Lord for refuge. He is good. Trust Him. I have been in the same position, and even though it seemed impossible, the Lord devised healing and restitution. It was not easy. But He did it.
