July 26, 2017 at 3:58 pmI have praise for my Lord & Savior for his provision of a job after 19 months of unemployment. I pray my story will encourage you!
I was laid off from a wonderful company after 16 years making a solid 6 figure income. Now in my early 50’s with a great track record of performance, I thought I would have lots of opportunities in a great job market in the Seattle area. Wow, was I taken aback. After a year of attending networking meetings, an outplacement firm, many, many job apps, dozens of interviews etc. I still didn’t have a job. About 13 months into this journey, I felt the Lord tell me to stop looking, stop applying for jobs and just rest in him ( I was having daily quiet time and DAB was a big part of that process). I started working with a couple companies, both PT doing some consulting & biz dev but not making much money.
Fast forward, in May, a recruiter I didn’t know found me on LinkedIn contacted me and after 5 interviews (the most streamlined of all the jobs I pursued), I was offered a position that FAR exceeded my expectations in terms of work, travel, flexibility, wonderful benefits, comp etc.
Here is my praise report for which God gets all the glory for:
The Lord’s peace was very evident through the past 6 months WHEN I determined I needed to yield to Him and stopped trying. During this time, he brought resources to my family (I’m a sole provider of 4), never got into debt, never missed paying any bills, kept our cars and appliances running smoothly….oh and my credit rating went up to its highest point in years. Only God can do that!
I meditated on many scriptures including: Jeremiah 17:7-8 ” But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Additionally, I prayed daily the Lord’s prayer. Notice it mentions “our daily bread”. I contended to pray for one day at a time as tomorrow was never promised and worrying about my finances was diminishing God’s ability to provide by my unbelief he would do so.
Let my story encourage you as you walk this journey in trust with Him to provide the single opportunity HE has for you to use your talents and gifts to glorify HIM and give him the glory for all of it!
Stand firm in his word and trust in him for all your provision, in HIS perfect timing!Upward & Onward,
