October 1, 2024 at 4:30 pmHurricane Helene was one of the deadliest storms America has ever seen, claiming the lives of more than 100 people. Areas in North Carolina and Tennessee are still reeling. Some residents are still stranded in Boone, NC, home of Samaritan’s Purse. Others are still without power and water. Many people have lost everything. Reports have referred to the devastation as North Carolina’s Katrina. Our prayers are going forth for the victims.

October 1, 2024 at 4:31 pmAt least 91 people across several states were killed. A North Carolina county that includes the mountain city of Asheville reported 30 people killed. Governor Roy Cooper predicted the toll would rise as rescuers and other emergency workers reached areas isolated by collapsed roads, failing infrastructure and widespread flooding. Supplies were being airlifted to the region around the isolated city of Asheville. Buncombe County Manager Avril Pinder pledged that she would have food and water to the city by Monday.

More than 50 search teams spread throughout the region in search of stranded people. One rescue effort involved saving 41 people north of Asheville. Another mission focused on saving a single infant. The teams found people through both 911 calls and social media messages, North Carolina National Guard Adjutant General Todd Hunt said.

October 1, 2024 at 4:36 pmHurricane Helene roared ashore late Thursday in Florida’s Big Bend region as a Category 4 hurricane with 140 mph 225 kph winds. A weakened Helene quickly moved through Georgia, then soaked the Carolinas and Tennessee with torrential rains that flooded creeks and rivers and strained dams. There have been hundreds of water rescues, including in rural Unicoi County in East Tennessee, where dozens of patients and staff were plucked by helicopter from a hospital rooftop Friday.

With sanctuaries still darkened as of Sunday morning, some churches canceled regular services while others like Faith Baptist Church in Perry opted to worship outside. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said Saturday that it looked “like a bomb went off” after viewing splintered homes and debris-covered highways from the air.

October 1, 2024 at 4:41 pmIn eastern Georgia near the border with South Carolina, officials notified Augusta residents Sunday morning that water service would be shut off for 24 to 48 hours in the city and surrounding Richmond County. A news release said trash and debris from the storm “blocked our ability to pump water.” Officials were distributing bottled water. With at least 25 killed in South Carolina, Helene was the deadliest tropical cyclone for the state since Hurricane Hugo made landfall north of Charleston in 1989, killing 35 people.

I don’t watch TV. I had no clue of the devastation! Dear Lord, send boots on the ground! Show us what we can do, Lord! Show us how to pray, what to pray, and when to pray. Please redeem this situation Jesus. You are so mighty, and nothing is too hard for You! We bless You, Lord. We know You love these precious people who are suffering. We loose and dispatch ministering spirits to assist in all the good that You will do. We believe! In Jesus Power-full Name. 🙏 Amen

October 3, 2024 at 12:42 pmPraying daily for the people of the south east that have been devastated by this terrible storm. This event has touched so many lives. Our son will soon be repairing power lines with the company he works for. Father, we pray safety over all the linemen, emergency responders, rescue teams, and any whose feet are on the ground for the purpose of helping those in need. Yes Almighty God, send forth Your heavenly host of angels to provide direction to the search parties, and to property owner who are themselves reaching out to their neighbors to help in bringing support to those most affected. We trust LORD God, that through this historic and tragic event, multitudes will come to faith due to Your Spirit 🕊 moving in the hearts of many…
