August 28, 2019 at 5:38 amDear Family,
We really need prayers of peace for our son, Daniel, who is struggling with fears so intense, he is unable to function. Danny is 18, and just moved into the dorms at college, which is only 30 minutes away from home. HE has always struggled with OCD and anxiety, but this move has thrown him in such a horrible state of turmoil, we need prayer warriors to help him through. First of all, he is on medication, but it may be time to adjust, and we are going to address that next week. He had become so comfortable at home, that he basically stopped leaving for anything but high school, and then returned home again. He refused to run errands with me, and basically stopped working. Church and home were his safe places, and he didn’t want to leave for anything else. His underlying main fear is that we (his parents) would die, or he would die. But since moving to college days ago, all he has done is cry, call and text everybody in his family just to hear their voices of reassurance. The only place he feels safe at school is at the Newman Center where there is a church and youth ministers who have prayed over him. He is a young man of faith. He has already seen a counselor at the college, and she agreed with me, that this was the right move for him, and she thinks he will be able to adjust. Now, I am questioning everything. I hate to see him so scared. We agreed he could come home every evening to do homework, as long as he returned to college at night. Last night was his first evening at home, and I could see the relief on his face just being inside the house. We adjusted his schedule to drop one class that he was most fearful of, and added another he may enjoy. We are trying ANYTHING to help. But, last night he said something that really hit home. He said, “I think I have the opposite of what claustrophobia is.” And, sadly, I think he is right. Agoraphobia is the fear of leaving the home, or of wide open spaces. The best treatment for this condition is exposure…which I guess we are doing! Please, please, please pray for peace and calm for his brain and his heart. His thoughts are constant, and tell him he is in danger. Hopefully this agreement to come home will help with the transitional phase, but I know God is needed to make this work for him. He is such a wonderful, handsome, kind, loving young man who loves the Lord. We need to calm his negative thoughts and replace them with the truth. He is loved, safe, and God is in control. Thanks you all!hollylhoffmanPrayers: 19Requests: 49

August 28, 2019 at 1:33 pmAllow me to encourage you. About 10 years ago, I had a young lad coming for lessons with me who was suffering in a similar way to your son. He too was a teenager and his poor family were despairing over his illness. A few of us prayed for this lad and truthfully we didn’t hold much hope for his future. I am delighted to tell you, that he found an escape through singing. It was tiny at first but it continued to grow. Today that same young lad is travelling the world, has developed a love of music, is living in his own home and is embracing education and life. Our God reigns!! My grandmother always used to say “today is not always” and she was right. God works and cares for those we care about. Today I pray in faith for your lovely son…and may you look back on these days and marvel and rejoice. 🙏🏻 With hope! Sylvia x

August 28, 2019 at 2:19 pmAbba, Father! You are Holy. We Praise Your Name! Truly Our God reigns. I join with these above before You, O Lord for Daniel – which means God is My Judge. Father, Praise Your Name for the love this dear one has for You. Thank You Lord, for the love he has for his family. Thank You for his parents who are working through this challenge and despite that it is a hard road; they are seeking You for his deliverance. Lord, as Danny journeys through allow him to grow in his trust. Yes and Amen to him finding a worthwhile work to express himself. May he bring glory to Your Name. Meanwhile we intercede that he finds his way, O Lord, and that he keeps holding onto Your hand. Praise Your Name, O Lord for the work You do amongst us. Thank You, Lord. Glory to Your Name!

August 28, 2019 at 6:13 pmFather, I join with these prayers and stand in agreement with the words that have been laid upon your altar. Father, guide this family in the processes and methods it will take to reduce the fear and anxiety of this young man so that he can be equipped for an independent adult life. I praise you for the loving, patient parents who persist in gently guiding him into greater independence and away from the confinement of his fears. We all seek your compassionate, healing hand upon this son. You, Father, love him far more than we ever could, and we praise you for the beauty of his life in our community of faith.
