Pray for my marriage of 5 months that seems to be ending

Hello DAB family,
I am seeking prayer for my marriage. My wife and I have been married for 5 months going on 6 soon at the end of this month. During the course of the marriage, and even before marriage, I have not been the best partner to her. We’ve had many times of fun and love, however, at this point I need to admit, without excuses, that I have been emotionally abusive to my wife. I have tried to control her, I don’t speak tenderly to her, I don’t show her the same love and respect she’s shown me. This has made her move out and we have not spoken much for the past 2 weeks. It’s a scary time and all I can think about is her contemplating divorce, or a very long separation. Some actions she has taken make me feel that divorce is in the picture. I would put up excuses and deny emotionally abusing her but she recommended me to read a couple of books and the truth is I can’t deny it any longer. I feel convicted and I can’t believe I allowed my selfishness to break my wife and ruin my marriage. She gave me a list of things she needs before she feels safe with me again. Since that day there has been barely any communication and so I don’t know what is going through her mind. I’ve been implementing the list. Not only to save my marriage but because I have come to understand I do need a change of heart. I need God to radically transform my heart and mind so that I can not only love her in a Christ like way but love others and allow God to use me. I am convicted and repentant. I’ve sought and will continue to seek forgiveness and I’m putting in the work necessary to restore my marriage. Please pray alongside me that God can change my heart, that He can restore and repair what I’ve broken, and that my wife’s heart and mine can repaired and softened, continue to submit to God, and trust/feel safe with me again. I take responsibility for everything. But I need prayer to get me through these next weeks or months. I can’t imagine how she’s feeling and so please pray for her heart and mind as well. That God may give her peace. That the people she is surrounding herself with give her wise, biblical and loving advice/guidance and that the Holy Spirit be the one guiding her and my decisions. Please Holy Spirit transform this husband to love his wife like Jesus Christ loves the church His bride. Jesus laid down His life for His bride the church. Holy Spirit please In dwell in their hearts and the Word of I Corinthians 13, to love as Your Word says to Love. In Jesus name amen

February 4, 2025 at 1:42 pmPraying with you in agreement. Change of heart and mind is right start . Involvement with some good men who will be transparent with you with their own sin as well and actively seeking Jesus too. He’s the only one who can create the change. Starts first in the thinking and renewing the mind coming out of agreement continually with what we know is wrong and coming into agreement to what we know according to Gods word is right. Lord lead him and guide him to the right group of supportive men he can be transparent with and get real with so he can heal his heart soul and life. You are the God of the resurrection provision and life. You wish none should perish nor a marriage. Help them do right by each other and you themselves and others around them. Let her be wise in her choices and dealings and future choices. God bless 💞 Father train them in love
February 4, 2025 at 2:43 pmbrother my heart goes out to both of y’all. if you want change turn to God completely and submit wholeheartedly. put God first and focus on his word, then you will see a change in yourself. I’ve been there and God is amazing. praying for ya.
February 4, 2025 at 4:49 pmI am stunned at your turnaround. I am dealing with a similar situation with my wife, but from your wife’s side. I am feeling rather hopeless.
I will be praying for you. Stick with it. Make the changes because they are the right thing to do. I hope and pray that you become a new creation in Christ, that she sees it. That your marriage will thrive on a more solid foundation than it could have without this pressure, this trial.

Draw him near to You, fill him with the Holy Spirit, fill his cup with Your Love to overflowing, so his cup fills those around him. Surround him with wise Believers to guide and encourage him. Please, LORD, comfort his wife, heal her wounds, and open her heart towards Zel to receive his repentance with grace and forgiveness. Reconcile this marriage, Lord, if it is Your Will.

I pour out my heart until Your word proves true and humble myself to become Your faithful servant—even until all Worship (Reverence) and Praise (Honor to God) is complete and full, for there is no name above all names other than Jesus!’ Amen.
March 18, 2025 at 2:00 pmI hope all of you prayer warriors receive this update! I wish there was a way to send you all a message individually to make sure you get it. Anyways, Praise God for His love and grace. For answered prayers. It’s been almost 2 months since my wife seperated from me. Ups and downs but I held on to Christ and dove deep into community. A few weeks ago we talked and decided to work on our marriage. We were together for almost a whole week. However, We went too strongly too quickly. At the first sign of pain and concern my wife got scared and backed away again. For another 2 or 3 weeks. The dates are all mixed up in my mind now with everything that has happened. However, on Sunday the 9th, she came to the church campus I was attending. I prayed and sought counsel before approaching her to say hello. At first she was very defensive. We talked and we both started to open up. Spent the day together. She told me God has been speaking into her and she now feels that “two things can be present at the same time”. She is ready and committed to working on the marriage, even if we arent’ both “healed”. Healing takes time but that doesn’t mean we can’t work on things, wisely. She has since said she feels safe, comfortable, and has never stopped loving me. She wants to fully commit without fleeing. I am fully committed too. This has been a scary 2 months but God has shown Himself faithful throughout it all. I will continue to work on myself, grow in the Lord, seek Him above all, and love her as Christ loved the church. We aren’t perfect but I know God wants to use us. Thank you DAB
