January 6, 2016 at 7:32 pmPlease pray for my daughter. She’s going on 21 years old this year and living with us at home. She can’t keep a job and has made it very hard for my wife and I at times. She plays computer games until 2-3 AM and sleeps until 1-2 PM each day. Most of the time she isn’t motivated to do much, and when she does have a job, it eventually gets to the point where she ends up quitting. She attended college right out of high school, lived at the dorms, and just before
Christmas break of 2014 she called us to tell us she’s coming home because she failed all her classes. We learned that she stayed out most nights with friends and began skipping classes. She wants to go back to college but she’s scared of the workload and of failing again, so many of her good intentions of enrolling again end up never happening. Most of her friends are in their second and third year at college, soon they will be graduating and I fear that if she can’t change her ways that seeing her friends moving on in their lives will only destroy her more inside.
I pray for her all the time and I try and help her out as best I can, although she won’t listen to any helpful advice and rarely talks to my wife or I about how she feels. It feels very hopeless right now because you want the best for your children and yet I feel powerless to motivate her in any way.

January 6, 2016 at 10:01 pmDear Dad: Be encouraged. God has good plans for your daughter. Each person takes a different route. Maybe she needs to realize this and let God lead her and order her steps. Tell her that her future is bright. Set boundaries. These are my prayers for you. You are a loving Dad. Keep standing on God’s Word and let Him lead you to do what is best for her.
Father, thank You for this Dad’s love and care for his daughter. Encourage him. Let him know that Your plans for them are good and it is not hopeless, it is just different than he thought it would be. Show him the steps to take. Speak to his daughter’s heart and let her obey You. Teach her to honor her mother and father. Teach her how to surrender to You and become a responsible adult. Nothing is impossible with you, Lord!! You are SO good!! Life is hard, but with You we are more than victorious!!! I thank You for this Truth! I ask this all in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
