April 5, 2021 at 5:32 pmHello family, I have committed a sin, a sin I’m Ashamed of. Something I did while I was on vacation a couple months ago in another country. And as it is I know god forgives and I have accepted that. But what I did was actually a crime in the country but not in my own country. I knew better but still fell into the temptation and now it has destroyed my entire life. Anxiety, depression, guilt, and all that comes with that. I now just wonder if it’s gods way of telling me I am to confess that crime and deal with the consequences in that country. It was a sexual sin but wasn’t violent or anything like that. I was sexual with someone under 18. They wanted to do it and I said no multiple times but one time I guess I was weak and did it. And like I said isn’t a crime in my country but in their country it is not allowed. I am So lost in this issue and would appreciate anyone’s input and guidance. I feel terrible and want to be at peace. I am willing to accept any consequences that comes from it if it is gods will. We are to confess our sins to god and one another which I have to the other person and to god. and I have nobody else in my life. My prayer is an answer on what I should do. Is the confession to god sufficient or must I pay the consequences of the laws here too?

April 5, 2021 at 6:41 pmI have spoken to a pastor about it. They said the past is in the past and to move forward. I can’t seem to move forward though. My mind has been consumed by it. Every minute I feel severe anxiety and don’t know what to do about it.

April 6, 2021 at 10:55 amcoleschafer7,
I can tell you what the Bible says #1. ” If we [freely admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promise], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us (continually) from all unrighteousness [our wrong doing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose.” (1 Jn. 1:9 AMP).
#2, Once we repent of our sin and ask for forgiveness we are forgiven.
#3, We also need to forgive ourselves. If we don’t, there’s a door left open for the enemy to slip in and begin to condemn us, with guilt and shame. We can tell when he’s at work in us if we are anxious. Anxiousness doesn’t come from God. It is an off shoot of the spirit of fear. Neither is depression, and guilt from God.
#4, God has not given us (the) spirit of fear. The Bible says, in (2 Tim. 1:7); that He has given us a Spirit that is from Him, which is the Holy Spirit, who’s attributes manifest as one of power, and of love, and of a sound and controlled mind. A mind that is being bombarded with thoughts that are anxious, and are fear filled. Is a mind that is under attack from the devil, plane, and simple. We should be experiencing peace after repenting, and receiving our forgiveness. If we aren’t, it’s the enemy who’s attempting to mislead us, and rob us of our peace, by making us think that God hasn’t forgiven us, and that He’s requiring something more from us.
#5, The Bible also says in (Ro. 8:1); “There is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, Who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Your forgiveness is complete, Jesus paid your debt for sin.
#6 His promise to you is, (Ro. 8:15), “For ye have not received (the) spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received (the Spirit of adoption), whereby we cry, Abba Father.”Praying that the Lord wash over you, that He forever free you from the feelings of sin and guilt, and that you find the peace that you are looking for.
In Jesus name. Amen! 💓
