I am asking for prayer over my financial situation. I few years ago it was discovered that I have a very rare genetic defect called hATTR Amyloidosis that was beginning to affect my health. It was causing polyneuropathy, congestive heart failure, loss of balance, affecting my digestive tract, and lung issues. I went from being active at age 63 to a wheelchair by 67 with a 70-pound weight loss. I am now 69. In the Fall of 2021, the house my wife and I lived in was in no way conducive to someone in a wheelchair, so we had a house built that would accommodate a wheelchair and I was sure to make this house handicap accessible, and we moved into it in February of 2022. In November of 2022, without warning, the company I was employed by sold and I became unemployed with no insurance. It didn’t take long to plow through savings from medications, hospital stays, and doctor visits that are hundreds of miles away to doctors that specialize in this defect. I have been hospitalized 4 times in the past 3 years for pneumonia racking up a hefty hospital bill. Being in a situation like this is embarrassing, frustrating, and depressing. I feel that I have let my family down for not planning better. But all in all, I live my life for God and help others however I can. I am willing to work and prefer to, but I have to work from home as I can no longer drive.
