Sexual Sin and Other Things

    I keep falling into sexual sin and feel so broken. I live away from home and am lonely and can’t find a good church, so God is all I have. So I hate that sexual sin keeps happening and separates me from him. If that wasn’t an issue I’ve been battling depression and anxiety. I have some upcoming doctor’s appointments so I’m worried about future medical bills and if I’ll even get the help I need. Plus I’m planning a trip back to visit my family, who I also end up having issues with, so I’m worried about money there and how things will be this time seeing them. I’m also getting targeted at my job that I already hate. I want to go back to my home state and get a job there but I don’t know how. I feel trapped in life, that all the good is behind me.

    Lord, for these many issues of our sister, Kristi, we put them all into Your hands and pray for help and healing. Give Kristi wisdom about each of these issues – staying away from the set up to sexual sin, loneliness, needing a church home, depression, anxiety, medical bills, visiting family, job. Lord, You know it all and have guidance for each one of these items. We pray for help and hope for Kristi. ~gail

    I know what it’s like to struggle like you are. Here’s a quote from C. S. Lewis that has helped me have a different perspective of this battle:
    “ It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

    Some practical things, I’ve found that if I am not drinking enough water or have a messy room and have not been consistent in prayer I am much more susceptible to the enemy. This is war. Pray. Plan. Fight. God will fight with you. I love you.

    Praying for you Kristi. God hears your heart and he loves you and so do all of your sisters and brothers in Christ. I feel the pain that you are going through. Loneliness can cause a person to forget who they are.
    Please know that Satan uses this weakness to draw you away from God. But, God wants us to run to him for all of our cares and give them to him. He will supply all of your needs and give you the desires of your heart as you allow him to become your all and all. So, I pray Kristi, that you would be encouraged by the fact that God has not left you. God is right there with you and taking care of you. Allow these trials to help you see your need and dependency on God’s word and his way. Trusting God brings direction. We pray with you that your journey will be one that God will get the glory and that you will find rest in him no matter where you live. Amen.

    Heavenly Father,
    I lift up Kristi before you today. Remind her of your deep love for her. Give her encouragement and strength. Remind her that following Jesus will bring her more joy and fulfillment than anything this earth can offer her. I pray that those at her work that wish to do her harm would be stopped in their tracks. Give her the strength to love those who persecute her. May her life and choices bring glory to you. Do not allow her joy to be robbed by anxiety or depression. Remind her that You Alone God are in control and that You will work all things together for her good, because she loves you. Protect her, inspire her, bring others into her life that will encourage her. In Jesus Name, Jessie

    Father God, I join this band of prayer warriors standing before your holy throne in agreement with these petitions on behalf of Kristi. I pray that you would reveal yourself to Kristi in a new and personal way so that her first breakthrough will be a new and more realistic relationship with her Lord and Savior. Help Kristi to see that nothing can separate her from your love — not even her sin. Let Kristi see that you search for her and care for her every moment of every day. Reveal yourself to her as a friend who cares for her more than any human ever could. In response to Kristi’s repentance, I pray that you would show her how to forgive those who have wronged her, and how to forgive herself and make a fresh start each day. Father, I pray that you would show Kristi that a fresh start with you is not necessarily related to geography but merely requires that she reach out to you, talk with you, pour out her heart to you. Let Kristi see that she can be both salt and light in her current environment. Lead her to a body of believers who can encourage her and help her to grow in you. Bless and prosper Kristi wherever you choose to lead her. Help her to find a new circle of friends, and protect from past bad affiliations. Be the Father in her life and reveal yourself to her as her provider of all her needs. Heal her of the anxiety, depression and low self esteem that contribute to her vulnerability to flattery and seduction as a source of love and affection. Father, I pray that Kristi would develop a heart of service to replace her focus on herself and her conditions. Let her move outside herself and find a way to serve you through service to her community. Let her find solace in giving back to others through prayer and service rather than isolating and ruminating. Precious Lord, this is your precious child. You know and understand Kristi better than we ever could. Let our words be acceptable and pleasing in your sight, our loving God and Father!

    Lord, I lift up Kristi do you. Let her heart see your goodness in a new way, on a deeper level, with greater fascination. Help her to run to you in weakness and to see the reality of your power made perfect in weakness. I thank you that Jesus was tempted in every way and is not unfamiliar with the temptation of sexual sin, the feelings of loneliness, despair or isolation. Guide this dear sister in your ways and lead her in the way everlasting.
