I have social anxiety. I pushed myself for many years to try and overcome it but it just got worse. I havent been to church in quite a while. When I think about it, I get very anxious. If there is someone in your church that is socially awkward, has a hygene problem..reach out to them. Just a friendly smile, handshake will go a long way. Too much pressure to be front and center will just send them back into hiding. Love them, pray for them and make them comfortable in your congregation. They hygene problem may be their unconcious way of keeping people at a distance.

I pray that God gives you courage to return to church and fellowship with others; also that someone will be kind enough to you at church.
December 14, 2016 at 12:53 pmI am agreeing with Sheila’s prayer for you…and thank you very much for posting this! I have some anxiety in church, especially the “greet your neighbor” part. 🙂 …but now, I will be taking my eyes off myself…and watching out for someone who might seem a little more anxious than I am! Yes..a friendly smile and handshake can go a long ways!

When I read I tried for many years, I think of myself in certain situations…all my trying did no good, or at least not for long. When I surrendered to You and to Your ways, I changed. I pray the same for this person. Let them allow You to get them ready to get out and bring You glory, be it at church or anywhere else. Let them shine for You!! Keep them from thinking about anything but that. Encourage them. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit! As I pray that I hear You say to me, do the same! Okay, Lord. I will! Let me SHINE for You!! You are worthy!! You are always worthy!! As I shine, let me exude and demonstrate all that is You!! Wow! Exciting stuff!! I love it!! I thank You in advance for how You will work in this person’s life and in mine because of this. That’s what I love about prayer!! You work in it! So cool!! I’m humbled again. Thank You Jesus! So easy to talk to talk the talk, but it takes complete surrender to walk the talk. Lord, I surrender to You. Have Your way. Amen and Amen!!
