October 1, 2021 at 10:20 pmLord, You walked on the earth, understood the broken world, yet also rose from death into resurrected life. I pray for Pastor Walt that you would hold him at this time in your loving arms. Bless the work of all the doctors, surgeons and hospital staff, and bring the power of your resurrection life into his body. Come fill him from top to toe with your restorative Spirit. May your resurrection life bring healing and wellness into his being. May your grace carry him through this hard time into a new season filled with hope and joy and more love then he ever thought possible and May he make it his life’s mission to share this new life and gift with others. Amen. Thank you for hearing my prayer.

October 4, 2021 at 10:11 am@ spiritdoc1 -Thank you for asking for updates.
First, Thank You All for your prayers!! Walt’s bride has just gotten over Covid also, so I’m sure is getting up her strength now. Please keep her in prayer also, TY.(sorry, am having problems with my app, on the website now)
**UPDATES ON PASTOR WALT, from his brides posts:
*Pastor Walt is in ICU now, and they have him completely paralyzed and fully sedated.10/2/21 Saturday: Walt has been moved to ICU and is being intubated. It’s done, and he seems to be resting peacefully. They said he’s been running a marathon for the past three days, and he’s exhausted. Please pray for him.
The doctor told me that Walt took the opportunity to be intubated when it was officially recommended this morning — his attitude was, “If that’s what we need to do, then let’s roll.”
But then Dr said, “Even though your husband’s mind agreed to it, once he was asleep and we started to insert it . . . well, Walt is a big man, and he’s a strong man. I mean, he’s a REALLY BIG, REALLY STRONG man, even as sick as he is. We had to call for backup.” That made me smile. 🙂
Walt is both very big and very strong, and I can imagine the fight that ensued, even though he wasn’t aware of it. Please pray for him.
10/3/21 Sunday: (borrowing a good check-in idea from a friend whose husband is also going through it — it should help people keep things straight — Day 17 or 18 of Covid, Day 10 in the hospital, day 2 in ICU) The doctor just called. His infection count is down, but his inflammation is up, so he continues on the blood thinner. We are looking at “weeks to months” of intubation. His overall assessment for today is that Walt is “holding steady”. Please pray for him.
I just got home. Another doctor spoke with me — this is the first time anyone has in person, and he was kind and gentle — confirmed what the first doctor said, that Walt is holding his own for now, but also said that he would categorize him as “stably critical”.
He’s on 70% oxygen because that is what he currently needs, but it is vital that Walt’s lungs be able to do better than that. That seems to be the most pressing issue for now.
He still has a blood clot in his arm and is on a blood thinner for that. (Note that they checked for more blood clots and they found no more.)
He is running a “bit of a fever” (I didn’t think to ask how high — my brain sometimes doesn’t work until later) and given him Tylenol. 🙏 They have him completely paralyzed and fully sedated.
They are allowing a bit of time for his bride to visit around 10am daily so she is taking that time. Please pray for him.So last updates were Sunday afternoon and will try to come back with more as his bride shares.
(FYI: They have been married 31 years, 3 adult children and started and pastor the Assembly of God church in our rural area. He is a man after God’s heart and his church feeds the hungry here and other places, yearly provides backpacks to the students here, helped start an orphanage in Mexico, and has traveled around the world with ministry groups. There are other things to numerous to mention.) Walt has friends from around the world that are praying for him.info copied, pasted and condensed from his brides notes on his Facebook page.

October 4, 2021 at 6:54 pmUPDATE FOR 10/04/21 (she is trying to update after her daily visit)
Day 18 or 19 with Covid, Day 11 in the hospital, Day 3 in ICU
I spoke with 3 doctors today, two at the hospital and another on the phone after I got home.
All three agreed that Walt continues to hold his own. Some lab numbers were up and some were down, but all were relatively small fluctuations.
His lungs are still at 70%. After he tolerates that for a while, they will lower that number just a bit and see how he does. The goal is to successfully lower it every few days. His lungs are hard and not cooperating.
His other organs continue to look good.
He continues to be on a blood thinner for the clot in his arm.
Please continue to pray for him. We especially need his lungs to soften and start to work!Good news from TexasPrayers: 487Requests: 79

October 5, 2021 at 11:33 amDear Heavenly Father,
I stand in agreement with these prayers for Pastor Walt and his family. I pray for complete healing of his lungs. I pray that you strengthen them and increase their function so that his body gets oxygenated blood to every cell. Please bring down any fever and remove all inflammation from his body. I pray that Pastor Walt will be a testimony to Your glory and power as well as Your mercy and grace.

***UPDATE — They turned his oxygen back to 70% today at noon!!!***
Day 19 or 20 with Covid, 12 in the hospital, 4 in ICU.
Things look about the same today EXCEPT that his oxygen has been moved up to 80% (it was 70% yesterday), and this is the wrong direction. He’s still lying prone in order to help with that.
His other numbers are still okay, as are his organs other than his lungs.
He’s still on blood thinner to help with the blood clot in the arm.
I haven’t spoken to a doctor yet today, but a nurse showed me his numbers and told me these things. I imagine the doctor will call here within the next hour or so, but he’s always difficult to understand over the phone, so we shall see.
Thank you for your continued prayers, particularly for softer lungs that will allow the oxygen percentage to safely come down.THANKS FAMILY 🙏🙏🙏

October 6, 2021 at 2:44 pmUPDATE 10/06/21
Day 20-21 with Covid, 13 in the hospital, 5 in ICU.
A mixed bag today.
The good news — he’s one of the more stable patients on the floor. His oxygen has been lowered to 60%, and they’ve moved him back onto his back. Kidneys look good.
The bad news — his liver enzymes went up a good amount last night after slowly rising for a couple of days, and he’s running a fever (99.6, I think?). They’re doing a sonogram after 4:30 (have to wait 6 hours after removing his feeding tube) to see what’s going on with that.
They worked on him almost the whole time I was there, and I’m thankful I got to see it, even if it did greatly interfere with my ability to talk to him. I saw them flip him and get him re-established on his back, which took adjusting of tubes and things. I’m glad they let me watch.
Please pray for his lungs to continue improving, as well as for his liver issues. I forgot to ask about his blood clot until after I got back to school. I’m sure the hard-to-understand-on-the-phone doctor will call later.
Thank you for your continued prayers!HisChildPrayers: 252Requests: 5

October 7, 2021 at 3:34 pm10/7/21 UPDATE (copied and pasted from his brides updates)
Day 21-22 with Covid, Day 14 in the hospital, Day 6 in ICU and intubated.
Overall, a good visit. His oxygen is currently at 85%, which is high, but he’s still on his back and tends to require more when he’s supine. They’re getting ready to flip him to his tummy, and they expect it to go down when they do. All other numbers are just showing minor fluctuations. Liver doing much better — sonogram only shows that it’s slightly enlarged, and his enzyme numbers have dropped significantly. No fever right now, and highest has been 99.6 (I think .6? Lots of info to remember.).
The stiffness of his lungs and his inability to use them remain the biggest issue. They tell me regularly that the lungs are very slow healers and that this will take some time.
I’m starting to meet family members of other patients and am learning some backstories. I haven’t seen anyone related to his roommate yet, but I did meet his wallmate’s (to borrow a term from college) wife today. That gentleman has been intubated for 3 weeks, and the plan is to extubate him tomorrow. I found that encouraging! Another woman was there to see her 22 year old grandson, who has been intubated for 5 days longer than Walt. Both women reported that it’s a roller coaster, with days of good news and days of bad news. Indeed, it is.
I’ve started to reread all of his FB friend’s messages to him and find that very encouraging.
Please continue to pray for softening of Walt’s lungs and that he can begin to use them more on his own. Thank you!bryan77727Prayers: 852Requests: 51

October 8, 2021 at 2:09 pmWalt’s bride only posted this early morning. Please pray for her as she goes through this with him.
Walt has a particular devotional that he has been reading out of every single morning for at least thirty years now.
And I’ve had access to walkie-talkies since Sunday.
There have been (just a very few, I’m sure) times in my life where I have been oblivious to the obvious — and, apparently, this is one of them. 🙄
I finally put two and two together on Wednesday, but on Wednesday they were working on him the whole time I was there, and I only had time for a brief hello and goodbye.
On Thursday, I forgot. (I was pretty frazzled for a good portion of Thursday.)
But today is Friday. And on Friday, I’ll remember.
Hang in there, Walt. I’ll finally get it. You know it takes me a while sometimes.
I’m on my way, and I’m bringing your good buddy, Oswald, along for the ride.Good news from TexasPrayers: 487Requests: 79
October 8, 2021 at 2:24 pmWell, I just barely missed this…
UPDATE 10/8/21 (just now)
Day 22-23 with Covid, Day 15 in the hospital, Day 7 in ICU and intubated —
Today they used the term “slight improvement” for the first time!
He’s back on his belly, and his oxygen pressure on the vent is at 65%. His personal oxygen level was hanging out between 88-92. They said that’s fine for now. If it falls to 86-87, they’ll raise his oxygen back to 70%. I’m glad I finally have a clue how that works. 🙂
His liver enzymes have continued to fall, so that’s very good. They did say he has kidney numbers that are up just a little, but it’s not much and today is the first day for that, so they will watch it. He isn’t running a fever, though his white blood cell count is up just a tad.
He’s still on the blood thinner for the clot in his arm.
We will take baby steps!!!
Thank you for your continued prayers for healing of his lungs and his body and for protection of his other organs. I am certain I can speak for Walt when I say that we both appreciate them very much. -
