August 7, 2023 at 7:15 amFaith. Often we seem to be concerned that we don’t have enough faith. We’ve walked with the Lord over the years, experienced His faithfulness & yet we can be concerned that our faith isn’t enough. Could this suggestion be of the enemy? Didn’t satan suggest to Adam & Eve that they weren’t enough. Did he not say, surely if you eat of this tree you will become more like God? But the truth is, Adam & Eve were as much God-like, Christ like as they could possibly be. Adam was a son of God. Okay, what did Jesus say? Matthew 17:20b NKJV Jesus said, ‘I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you’.

August 7, 2023 at 7:19 amBefore we were born again, how much of the ‘God kind of faith’ did we have? It’s likely that we heard the gospel several times before coming to faith. And at the point of our new birth, we had just enough faith to take our first step & move towards the Lord. Could we say at that point that we had great faith, tried & tested faith, refined faith, or mature faith? Was our faith the size of a football, a tennis ball, or a ping pong ball, or maybe a marble? The reality is, we probably had faith the size of a mustard seed & this faith, according to Jesus, can move mountains. And this is the first mountain it moved.

August 7, 2023 at 7:20 amWhen we were born again – we were born of the Spirit of God & became like Christ. In our spirit man, the image of Christ was recreated, we became sons of God. We became heirs of God & joint heirs with Christ. Delivered from the kingdom of darkness & placed into the Kingdom of light. We are now: Children of God. A new creation. The righteousness of God. Sanctified – made holy – saints of God. Redeemed – we belong to God. Justified – at peace with God. Citizen’s of heaven. Accepted in the Beloved. Approved by God. Precious. Beloved. Complete. The healed. Crowned with lovingkindness. Valued. Destined to be conformed to the image of Christ. More than conquerors – winners. Eternally grateful.

August 7, 2023 at 7:21 amThis & much more, is what our first step has enabled us to recieve. It is likely that our faith was the size of a mustard seed when we first believed. We placed our faith in Christ & the finished work of the cross. It wasn’t the size of our faith that achieved so much but in whom we put our faith & what Christ had already done for us. Our repentance & faith, simply positioned us to recieve what Christ had already given. It is therefore, by grace that we are saved, through faith in Christ. It is not of works but through the finished work of Christ. Jesus worked – we believed. Jesus gave – we recieved. We are now – present tense – all that Christ is – Christ in me & I in Christ.

August 7, 2023 at 2:32 pmAmen! livingwatersarefree,
It’s a curious thing when the Bible talks about having mustard seed faith. It’s been shown that the seed of the mustard plant can’t be hybridized. Meaning, taking two plants of the same species (family) and combining them to yield another variety. In other words, a mustard seed will only produce a mustard plant and nothing else. The mustard seed is very unique, and pure to itself and can’t be contaminated by anything else. Could it be that the mustard seed faith that JESUS was referring to was the kind of faith that can’t be contaminated by anything else? It’s reasonable to think that JESUS is talking about Pure uncontaminated faith, when He uses the mustard seed as an example. Brother, I also believe that your right that it’s not about the size of the seed so much. But rather, the kind of seed He was referring to that can move mountains is seed that’s cannot be contaminated with any doubt or unbelief, or wavering like a ship that’s tossed on the sea by the winds of unsureness’ and doubtful questionings.
Food for thought! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I am blessed by them. They cause me to want to know my JESUS more deeply.Keep the flow going brother…
BLESSINGS! In Him.

August 7, 2023 at 3:11 pmThankyou for sharing – yes, I agree. It’s the faith without the doubting, questioning, or double mindedness. Jesus does mention this in another passage. However, our God is so gracious to encourage our faith when we falter. Abraham faltered big time, but in Romans 4, it’s recorded that Abraham believed without wavering. The Lord forgave his wavering, (the plan with Hagar) & honoured Abrahams faith.
