August 8, 2023 at 11:00 amForgive me, if I repeat some of what I have already posted. I have four adult children . Three of them are estranged from me completely; among them are my seven grandchildren. 15 months ago my husband relapsed with his drug addiction. Overnight my daughters and her husband’s entire demeanour towards us changed . My husband has been forbidden to see or contact any of them and they have not inquired about his program of AA or how he’s doing, etc. I myself have been treated cruelly by them as well. I have had three major surgeries, and because they believe i somehow “should have seen this coming”, I’ve been ridiculed, interrogated and neglected by them. They do not support me in any way, practically or emotionally. They use their children as pawns to hurt/punish me, by giving them removing permission to visit them. I have enjoyed almost 12 years of daily contact with these five children. I’ve removed every single picture of them from the walls of my home. I’ve taken all their toys, books, activities, musical instruments, and put them in my basement because I can’t bear to look at them, my heart is so broken. I don’t see how I can go on even another day with such horrible brokenness in my family. It’s a day-to-day decision for me right now to do that. Living with a freshly recovering addict, there are ongoing marital issues as well. I have no friends outside of Alanon. None of them are believers though. My sense of loneliness and abandonment could not be greater than it is at this time. My youngest daughter eloped to Portugal 6 years ago and i haven’t seen her since. My oldest son cut me off 3 years ago after an argument. Only my youngest son is still in my life. He struggles with his own addictions. He’s also cut his dad out of his life and i feel caught between them. The family disease of alcoholism has wreaked havoc in all of us; none of my children are in recovery for this. Please pray for a breakthrough! My sense of despair overwhelms me daily…

August 8, 2023 at 1:48 pmDear sister loridurham11,
your post reminded me a little of King David when He would lament because of the devastating and crushing situations that he went through. He was depressed and disheartened on may occasions yet, he seemed to always give God the glory ✨ by the end of His discourse. A take away lesson is that when we find ourselves in the place of darkest despair, We need to do what David did and encourage ourselves in the LORD. There going to be difficult seasons in each of our lives. Times where all we want to do is give up and crawl under a rock. It’s in the midst of these trying seasons that we would benefit by following David’s example of speaking directly to our own spirit and tell it to not be disquieted, ( overly upset and discouraged) but — “Hope thou in God; For I shall yet praise Him, Who is the health/help of my countenance and my God!” (Psalm 42:11). This is how David encouraged himself by giving God praise in the middle of the problem. Not afterwards! If we want to experience the great victories’ like David did, we are admonished to do the same, thing David did.
Father, thank You that when we learn to give You praise in the midst of our trial, we are showing You that we have faith in You. Faith in Your ability to get us through our difficulties, and into the broad place of Your blessing. Help our fellow Dabber, and all of us LORD, to rise up on the inside and give You the praise that You deserve. And to encourage ourselves in You, and to never lose our hope, the next time we face discouragement…In JESUS’ name. Amen! 💓

August 9, 2023 at 8:49 amDear Heavenly Father,
From the depths of my soul, I lift up loridurham11 to Your presence, knowing that You are the One who knows and understands us intimately. I come before You with a heart full of gratitude, seeking to encourage loridurham11 in their journey of prayer, fasting, thanksgiving, and biblical contemplations.
Lord, Your Word teaches us to “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). In this directive, we find the essence of a heart filled with gratitude, acknowledging Your sovereign presence even in the midst of challenges.
As loridurham11 engages in prayer, may they feel the depth of Your presence. May their prayers be a genuine conversation with You, a time of pouring out their heart, seeking guidance, and finding comfort in Your listening ear. Let their prayers be a source of connection and strength.
In moments of fasting, https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/epigenetics-body-mind-spirit-where-everyone-learns-x-tricia-cook/ may loridurham11 experience a deep spiritual revelation. Just as physical nourishment is set aside, may their spirit be nourished by Your Word and Your presence. May fasting be a time of spiritual clarity, drawing them closer to You and helping them gain insight into Your will.
May their heart overflow with gratitude. May they recognize Your goodness in all circumstances, even when challenges arise. May they find reasons to give thanks, not only for the blessings they can see but also for the ways You work behind the scenes for their good.
As they delve into biblical contemplations, may Your Word come alive to them. Illuminate the passages they read, and guide them to deeper understandings of Your truth. May they find wisdom, solace, and inspiration as they meditate on Your teachings.
Lord, as they seek to know You more deeply, help them also feel known by You. Let them find comfort in the assurance that You understand their heart, their desires, and their struggles. Guide them in their journey of faith, leading them to a place of greater intimacy with You.
May their pursuit of prayer, fasting, thanksgiving, and biblical contemplations be a pathway to both knowing and being known by You, the God who loves us unconditionally. May their heart’s desires align with Your will, and may their soul find rest and fulfillment in Your presence. I offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
