Learning to 'be'

    Ruth: I’m doing OK in my job now after changing at the beginning of this year, it’s in a different field but I’m discovering it fits quite well too. As it’s only 3 days a week I’ve got more time on my hands, and I’m probably not using it v well. I may get an extra day of work (promised but so far not forthcoming) or I could diversify into adult learning sessional work. Not sure…

    Please pray that God would shape my heart and my activity in this under-structured time, I’m finding the time freedom actually quite challenging, as it’s also exposing the fact I’m not feeling very close to God right now either. I’m sticking with daily Bible routines etc but would love to make more of a real connection with God in prayer and worship. And learn to ‘be’ without ‘doing’ all the time.

    Dearest Ruth:
    Let us pray for each other. I too, struggle with being quiet before the Lord and using my extra time for eternal purposes. It is so hard when there seems to be so much to do. The Word reminds us to sit quietly before the Lord and meditate upon Him.
    Father, I thank you for Ruth and her prayer to “be” rather than continually do. Thank you for the extra time that she has and her request to use this time as You would want rather than than the way the spirit of this world would. Give us eyes to see You and an eternal perspective to the time we have. Lord, we love You and want to give You all of ourselves in Praise and Thanksgiving – for we know that all good gifts come from You. Draw us close to You, dear Jesus, give us the Spirit of drawing to You so that You will draw near to us. ” We patiently waited, Lord, for you to hear our prayer. You listened and pulled us from a lonely pit full of mud and mire. You have allowed us to stand on a rock with our feet firm, and gave us a new song, a song of Praise to You.” Psalm 40:1-2

    Dear God, simply44info is thankful for life, job and your Grace. He/she wants to have a real connection with you to experience you, feel you and love you more. Grant the Spirit of discernment into his/her heart to understand the gospels more and in that recognise you in all aspects of his life to the Glory of God, Amen.
