Background – My son was raised in the church with both parents in a very stable home. He started using drugs and had a child at 18. After 2 years he went into the army, but once he left he really never came back as he met a girl that didn’t want him to see HIs family. It was pretty much mental abuse , secluding him from us and his son here and he didn’t stand up to it. As a result as a short time passed he pretty much stopped communicating with his son and us and He adopted her 3 prior kids and had 3 of his own with her. I didn’t meet my grandchildren until the oldest was 9. Fast track four years ago my angry grandson reached to him after he divorced the controlling wife and they started to mend their relationship as we did ours. The prayers over that 15 year period…so many to count. Prayer request answered (once I lost my mind and finally get God deal with it – one of those give it to God and take it back) He lives in Alaska now with his new wife, whom we love and he has found God again and we are so happy about that My now 20 year old grandson decided after pretty much living his fathers old life – drugs, lying, etc here (except no children yet) that he wanted to “change his life” He asked his dad if he could move in with him to Alaska and his dad said yes, but gave him his rules which he readily agreed to. No drugs- has to get a job – respect the household and those in it. Pretty minimal. We found out he broke those first day. His dad is devastated (and made worse that now he sees what he put us through) my son is tormented by the guilt because of HIs behavior in not seeing his son all those years and my grandson is using and abusing that . within the first week his priority has been his social life and probably checking out his ability to continue the drugs he used here. We are in FL so no hands on help being so far away. The last three or four months he was here we saw a big change and we thought he had turned the corner but apparently it was all a lie We don’t know what to do. My son doesn’t know what to do. He’s caught between guilt and being tough. He is bringing things into the home and says he doesn’t see that it’s a problem even though the rules were very clear. My son has terrible PTSD from 12 years in the service and combat and pretty bad health issues as well and needs to go to Mayo Clinic in AZ for 3 weeks. He obviously can’t trust him at home by himself and there is no one that can stay with them. When anything is ”discovered” grandson is doing he cries and says he is depressed and no one knows how close he comes to killing himself to get people to back off and leave him alone We just don’t know what to do. We know we need prayers and lots of them. For grandson, his dad and step mom and for me and my husband as I feel I’m going back into that worried obsessed mode about something I can’t control.
