Please don’t beat yourself up over your son’s choices. We parents take our children’s life difficulties so much to heart, but even the best of parenting doesn’t guarantee a child will make healthy life choices. I know telling myself what a failure I am as a parent leads to less capacity to actually cope and work through the circumstances. It is a testament to your love and perseverance that you are still throwing out a lifeline to him and calling him to a renewed life. Oh Lord, touch this son’s addicted brain and open his eyes to what alcoholism is doing to him. Draw his heart to Yours, and help him to make better choices. Bring Godly people into his life for mentoring and friendship. Please do this for his mother also, so they both can feel settled and where you want them to be. Comfort this mom and help her to keep her eyes on You, from whence comes her help. Help her to feel Your encouragement even before changes are seen. Let her find the right church body to connect with. In Jesus’ name, Amen Apple of His Eye

Standing in agreement with those prayers. Father, we come to You today, asking for Your wisdom and help for the family. Help this son see so clearly that with alcoholism: everyone loses. Break every chain that binds him, Father, and set him free. Please strengthen and encourage the mom and help them find new, godly friends.
