He’s not sure why certain things are happening to him. And so he comes to You in prayer and song, expressing the deepest parts of his soul. The verse also connects the hopelessness of life with the hope that You give. The writer of this Psalm speaks to his own soul and encourages himself to continue to hope in You. He knows that no season lasts forever, and there will come a time when joy returns to him. We all go through seasons of sadness and grief, and we can use Psalms as a guide. We can be reassured that we can tell You exactly how we feel. Help us to remember the promises that You have given us in Your Word, and how much You love us and care for us.
