December 25, 2017 at 8:31 amDear God, Thank you for bending the heaven low and coming down (Ps. 144:5), for coming like a lion which turns away from nothing (Prov. 30:30). May we always clothe ourselves in your love, in your goodness, and in your grace so that others will not see our nakedness and shame (Rev. 16:15). Instead, may others look at us and see You. May people take hold of our clothes and say, “Let us go with you because we have heard that God is with you” (Zech. 8:23). “O Lord, what are humans that you should care about them? What are mere mortals that you should think about them? Humans are like a breath of air. Their life span is like a fleeting shadow” (Ps. 144:3-4). Today we celebrate the arrival of baby Jesus, the Savior of mere mortals and fleeting fellows. We look forward to your second advent when you will once again come for us. Come and reestablish humanity the way You created us to be. Come and bring back Eden. Come and take us home. May we await this day with eager expectation, hopeful hearts, and faithful certainty, trusting that You will once again prove Your faithfulness to us. We love you, we adore you, and we long for you, Lord Jesus. Come quickly, we pray. AMEN
