October 2, 2018 at 2:16 pmI need prayers and help for a friend of mine. She is Catholic and I don’t know enough about Catholics, but when she says she has no friends at church and that she doesn’t feel like she fits in at all, it is a little disturbing to me. She says she is Catholic so she holds to a specific set of beliefs and that she goes to church for God (to worship) and not for friends. Is there a Catholic who can either help me understand this way of thinking, or who can explain to me a way to talk to her without sounding like I am putting down her faith. I love her very much. She is a wonderful young woman, but is having a hard time right now, and seems to be very negative in almost everything. She does feel she has a strong faith in God, but she is feeling very alone. I do not live near her, but we message each other fairly often. Thanks for any help and any prayers.

October 2, 2018 at 6:45 pmFather, how we love our Catholic friends. Lord open our hearts and minds to You and Your teaching – draw us in with a thirst that only You can quench, dear Lord. Thank You for dying for us and Thank You for rising from the dead! We love You Lord and wait upon You!
I was raised Catholic and accepted Christ through the Catholic charismatic movement back in the late 70’s. It may not be true of all Catholics we meet but many are resistant to reading God’s Word because your friend may have been taught that only the priest can interpret the Word of God for them. This faith can be very “works” oriented. Your friend may be negative because the Holy Spirit is being hindered by this thinking. I cannot say for sure. For me, I found that Catholicism and it’s teaching grounded and prepared me for the trial that would lead me to Christ. After coming to Christ, I grew to realize that the liturgy of the Mass is steeped in the gospel. I will have to say, however, while I grew up, the Mass was said in Latin. I know that has been stopped for many years.
It may not be her Catholicism that is hindering her. Our family here at DAB may want to intercede for your dear friend to come to Christ and know Him personally. When I came to Christ, I knew something was missing in my Catholic faith and embraced Jesus wholeheartedly. I am sure this is true of any denomination that one may grow up in. We have all heard the testimonies of children who have grown up in a denomination and totally missed hearing the gospel.

October 3, 2018 at 4:14 amI am Catholic and I love my faith. Most Catholics do not understand what it means to be a Christian. Catholicism does not separate you from the word of God or your prayer life it actually teaches you how to go about living as a good Christian in prayer and the gospel. Most often the understanding of the Mass and the liturgy of the Word is misunderstood by Catholics with little knowledge of the faith we profess. I would like to help her so contact me at demefavicentia@ymail.com or Facebook on Joy Emefa
She can join the Dynamic Catholic community and DAB community to pray and go through the Bible everyday. That’s what I’m doing to deepen my faith in God. I have not for once felt that there’s something missing in my faith as a Catholic. Thank you Shirley for your prayer request.Dear God, I’m thankful for your love toward all your children. Many have gone astray, some don’t know what to do and others are suffering and it feels like you are too far away to listen or help but as humans our ways are not your ways and by faith, your word and testimonies of our fathers we have come to know you and believe in you that you definitely hear our cries and petitions. Father, I pray for my sister who has a strong faith in you but feels alone. Help her to understand as St. Paul said in Philippians that ‘do not worry about anything but pray to God for everything’ calm her troubled heart, give peace to her heart, comfort her oh Holy spirit and bring her to the Joy of salvation. Dear God it seems you are far away but I believe you are closer to her than she could imagine so let her feel your presence this moment and always. Cause her to open up to you completely. May she experience your love daily in the Reading of the Bible and in the Holy Mass. Father thank you for your kindness towards her. Let your love and Grace be sufficient for her. Thank you for her Friend, Shirley, who loves her and is extending her heart to help her. Bless Shirley in all her endeavors. Thank you for answered prayer. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit….
