This is Summer in Ohio. I’ve called a couple of times. Thank you to His little Cherie, who prayed for me and for my boyfriend, Jason. I apologize in advance for how long this is, but I have 3 prayer requests: 1) DEPRESSION: Jason is struggling with depression and addiction. He is a wonderful man but he feels completely worthless and doesn’t even feel like he is worthy to pray. He went to church a couple of weeks ago and was spiritually attacked while he was there. He got a bad headache, he became nauseous, and his negative thoughts about himself became overwhelming. He didn’t even feel worthy to go up for prayer. A couple of people came back and prayed with him where he sat. It strongly affected him but he hasn’t been back to church since. 2) FRIENDS: We both need Godly friends outside of our relationship. In my case, I am unable to connect with people in an emotional way. I have had ‘friends’ – lots of them – but they were all friends on a very shallow, cognitive level and not an emotional, intimate, spiritual level. I feel convicted that God wants us both to have, and that we NEED, Godly best friends outside of each other. Jason doesn’t have opportunities to meet Godly men he can hang out with but he’s open to having a friend. As for me, having a close, spiritual, female friend makes me very anxious. 3) DOUBT: I don’t know which came first, but the fact that I can’t feel emotionally or spiritually connected to a friend is the same way I am with God. Most of the time I believe in God and during those times I ‘know’ (I don’t feel it) that He loves me. I have plenty of God stories – miracles in my life that help me believe. Occasionally, I have felt something; like maybe God was there with me, speaking to me. However, I have never felt the spirit of God IN me. Because my belief in God is cognitive instead of personal and not emotionally or spiritually based, I find it very easy to doubt His existence. Sometimes, the story of Jesus and the resurrection seem fantastical to me. On par with dragons and wizards, the theory of ancient aliens populating the planet, all the Hindu Gods and other religious beliefs across the world. I need help communicating with God in an emotional, spiritual, very real way so that my faith will grow strong and stay constant. Please pray for Jason and I. We both have individual issues that are affecting and straining our relationship. We both want this to be a forever relationship but there are things in the way that might prevent that. Jason and I are both registered for the family reunion in a couple of weeks and we hope to be able to really receive blessings from God and support from other believers as we go through our struggles.
