October 25, 2018 at 11:44 amAs an Accountant, I could not ignore your request for prayers for your personal finances. It’s tough for many people to make ends meet. You can do it! My 70-year-old friend learned to budget on less than a shoestring after her husband died. Prior to his death, he controlled and took care of ALL their finances. She knew next to nothing. When I saw what she has to work with and how little she has in total, I was scared. This is what works for her: she keeps a daily log of all purchases, down to the smallest amount. She lives only on Social Security. Her budget is simple: don’t spend more than her monthly allotment. Period. And, I’m happy to report that in most months, she spends less. She doesn’t go shopping much, and when she does, she only shops for exactly what she needs, not what she wants. She has learned to be content with what she has and she spends several hours a day reading and meditating on the Bible, and looking for ways to apply the truths to her life. You have to know the Father is pleased with her. Father help this believer find every way possible to gain financial relief. Secondly, help her find ways to spend more time with her daughter. Maybe that will require her to ask her daughter to visit, maybe it means that she goes to visit her daughter. For myself, our son and his family which includes our 2 grandsons, live 6 hours away. I go to visit every month. Southwest Airlines and I are very familiar with each other. I make the effort because I want to be involved in their lives as much as I can. The grands bring me joy watching them grow and personalities develop. I don’t know if our son will ever move closer, nor do I know this about your daughter. But I pray your relationship with her remains good and grows stronger every year as you work on it. Because our son is a young adult, I have learned to text on my phone, since this is a good way to connect with him. Texting wouldn’t be my first choice, but he is. Not knowing your situation, it’s hard to know whether you moving closer to your daughter would be a wise choice. I pray God’s wisdom for you in this. That friend I mentioned above – her house had a lot of deferred maintenance needed and she had almost no money to have the repairs done. I suggest she consider moving. Her first response was, “No way!” Two years later, our Lord gave her the wisdom of this decision and she sold her home, moved closer to family, and bought a condo. It can be done.
