March 5, 2018 at 2:12 pmGreg, I tried to contact you by email, but I apparently didn’t hear it correctly, so here is a copy of the email i tried to send:
Hi Greg,
I hope I heard your email address correctly. I heard you this morning on DAB as I was catching up and listening to the Saturday broadcast (today is Monday).
Every time I hear the word “depression” my ears perk up. There are many causes for depression (and anxiety) and I would like you to go to Dr. Mark Hyman’s website on “Broken Brain” and soak up some information there. He recently aired free of charge his broken brain series and I was able to watch a lot of it.
Another good source is Dr. Hyla Cass. She’s an integrative psychiatrist and author of “8 Weeks To Vibrant Health” and “The Addicted Brain & How to Break Free”.
A 3rd good source is Dr. Mercola. He has a wealth of health information posted on his website. You can search for any subject you want to learn about there. The Health Ranger (Mike Adams) is another good source and so is GreenMedInfo (Sayer Ji).
I had depression about 10 years ago, but didn’t realize it until it was over. It had lasted about a year. I finally somehow realized that I needed to start getting out in the sun to get some vitamin D. I also started changing my eating habits and switched my diet to healthy organic produce. Exercise is also important. I had a broken brain but now it’s a healthy brain and I haven’t had a depressed moment since I started living a healthy lifestyle. We need to eat God’s food…..not the so-called “food” that man has messed with.
Please respond so I know you received this email. I will be praying for you.

March 5, 2018 at 5:32 pmHi Noma –
Thank you for your efforts to reach out to me and provide this information. I have struggled for many years (varying intensity) with what you have explained as a “broken brain”. I have also looked into the Dr Amen research and have recently been encouraged by several sources to work on my diet. I have also been seeing a counselor for many years to resolve ongoing pain and brokenness from my childhood that seems to bubble up during more stressful periods in my life, yet I’ve always thought of myself as somewhat high strung person. Being grounded in a loving community, exercise and healthy sleep behavior, along with daily meditation and worship have often helped me come out of the despair and dark thoughts that can sometimes feel so overwhelming. So often I see myself and my role in my family as needing to be the strong, resilient force.
I will explore the information you shared and let you know how I’m doing.
I was talking with my sister recently and she mentioned a situation where she called herself “a feeler” and that the emotional context of that event was hard for her. She recognized that she needed to be kind to herself and give it some time to process what was happening. That really struck me as important because also feel things very acutely at times.
Tomorrow will be two weeks since I was terminated from my job and when I initially called in to DAB I was so blindsided and shell shocked I was recoiling from the impact.
Now having some distance from that situation, working to proactively look for suitable work each day, having a sleep and daily schedule, getting some exercise (I’m still sore from some gardening I did on Saturday) I’m finding I have been feeling better.
I have also picked up the book again by Dr Brene Brown called: “Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live” and part of my reaching out to DAB and a new local church community has allowed this experience of being vulnerable with others to unravel the hopelessness I was recently feeling.
Thank for your devotion to the body of Christ and to me and my family. I know that we all serve a good, loving, gracious God… He wants to heal the brokenness we all face and he uses each one of us in that ministry…
Peace to you in our Lord Jesus name!

greg.n.smith@me.comP.S.> Thank you to others who have reached out to me as well. I’m sure there are some that tried but couldn’t understand the audio. I’ve left two messages so far and will continue to share my progress and journey. I am believing that what I am going through will help others as well.

March 6, 2018 at 5:22 pmGreg, I am happy that things are going better for you now. I don’t know why you lost your job. Could be anything: your boss didn’t like you, the company is downsizing or any one of a number of reasons. But I think God has something better in mind for you.
I would suggest that when the pain and brokenness from your childhood bubbles up, just give it to God. You don’t want it or need it and He will take it and dump it in the bottom of the deepest sea.
The courage to be vulnerable is good. I have learned than men, especially, have a hard time doing that. They want to appear strong and in charge. That is not a good thing. We all have to be open and real. We cannot get help by hiding our problems.
I’m also glad to hear that you will be working on making your diet more healthful. It’s an ongoing experience as we learn more and more about nutrition.
Finally, I would encourage you to be thankful. Giving thanks to God for everyday things like sunshine, rain, snow, clouds, the beauty of nature…..you get the point. Also for things like a good night’s sleep and an awesome cup of coffee in the morning. Just a habit of thankfulness for everything that God gives us that we so often take for granted.
Many blessings,
Noma Johns 🙂greg.n.smithPrayers: 40Requests: 2
March 14, 2018 at 11:53 amIt’s been three weeks since the job loss and today I’ve been feeling even more lost. I’ve had a lot of interest in my skills from recruiters but not a single interview yet. I know that takes time. Even so I’m also anxious about when I do actually get those interviews. They can also be so stressful.
Please continue to pray that I stay in Lord Jesus perfect will!

March 14, 2018 at 2:20 pmFelt called to this 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. With this in mind I will pray.
Dear Lord Jesus,
At your name every knee will bow, at your rebuke all evil shudders and is moved, there is nothing greater than you, you are a mighty God of war, please reach out to our brother. As he faithfully seeks you, let him see that in you he will not be put to shame, that in you he stands on a rock, please be a healer to his mind, please bring wisdom and knowledge to him during any interview that you want him to take. Please be quick to provide, please help him see your hand at work. Help him rest in you at this time, help him seek your love in the waiting, help him know the relationship that you can give at such time, so good that all worry falls away. Lord of love and light be his best friend and healer, be his great reward and please set his soul on fire for you.. Amengreg.n.smithPrayers: 40Requests: 2
March 20, 2018 at 11:24 amDear DAB family –
Thank you for the continued support and prayers. I am still waiting for unemployment benefits as the determination takes 5-6 weeks for claims with my circumstances. I’m on week 3 now and God has been faithfully providing through my wife’s income and my efforts to sell some things I don’t need right now.
I have an interview scheduled for tomorrow Wed 3/21 at 10:30am. I’m spending the day preparing for that with practicing answers to common questions and working to tighten up my communication “ticks”.
This is my first official interview since the job loss on 2/20 so a lot of effort has gone into getting this interview. Please pray that I will know God’s will for this situation. I do not want my human desperation to cloud the best situation for my family. I also don’t want to shy from a challenge that will help strengthen me. I’m praying the serenity prayer throughout this situation since I need to focus on the things that are my part and let God have control of the outcome.
I feel blessed to have this large community of loved ones helping me carry this burden.
Love you all!
+Greg (in Bothell Wa)

April 4, 2018 at 9:07 amUpdate
I wanted to thank the community for your prayers I received a job offer last Thursday (3/29) on my wife’s birthday! This came just in time for a trip she is taking so our income will be very stable from this transition. I started on Monday 4/2 and am liking the environment so far. Just wanted to share this answe to prayer.
Please keep me in your prayers as I navigate this new chapter of my life. I still have significant anxiety in the morning and would love to be free of this experience in my body.
Also pray for healing in my shoulder and neck. I injured myself awhile back and the issue still hasn’t resolved . I think there is a pinched nerve that flares up and causes pain and numbness in my left arm.
Thank you family!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your provision, please build our brother up, help him be close with you trusting in your provision. Please help his family and help him find a rhythm with you which allows him to use your strength and not his own to accomplish the demands in his life. April 4, 2018 at 6:10 pmAwesome news!!! Thank you for being so faithful to share your journey and let us pray for you and give praise with you, Greg!!
Thank You JESUS!!! YES!!
His plans for us are good. Our mind often can’t comprehend how all everything unfolds, twists and turns and why, or how to navigate, but thanks be to God we have Him and His Word that will never fail us! Thanks also for a loving faithful community of believers to stand in prayer. That is important and such a blessing. Praise God!!!
Greg, you are on your way…just keep trusting God and turning everything over to Him. Keep being responsible with your choices and believe that He is in control of all things and He loves you SO MUCH!!! I think that believing God and receiving His love each day is critical to a stable and healthy life. He is for us!! Whoo hoo!!! I rejoice and rest in that. Confess it each day when you feel anxiety or start to think about stressful situations. And like Noma said, just hand it over to Him. I’ve got to do the same as a wife, Mom, Homeschool Learning Coach and more. If I don’t stress mounts and it gets ugly quite fast. Ha ha! Oh my!! No lie. I praise You Father, for Greg’s new job and the journey You are with him on. You are SO good! SO faithful!! SO loving! Always our Provider. You are our Healer too! Please heal Greg’s pinches nerve or whatever causes pain/numbness. Take it away. Be glorified! I love You! I praise You! I thank You!!! Thank You for DAB and this Prayer Wall. It always encourages me and keeps me from feeling alone or focused on myself. I love to pray and You know it! Thank You for all the opportunities and especially for the AMAZING answers to prayer!! It’s SO cool that Greg shared the journey and kept us informed. That rocks!!! You ROCK!!! Thank You for everything!!! Thank You for being such a GREAT Father, God and more!!!! Help us share the gospel and tell of all the marvelous things You’ve done for us!!! I pray all this in Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen!
