July 3, 2023 at 4:15 amPsalm 43:5. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me. Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance & my God. The psalmist experienced trying times, moments & seasons of discouragement, fatigue & perhaps depression. He was aware of a battle in his soul, feeling low, disquieted within himself. The palmist is realistic about his present experience & honest before God in his prayer but he doesn’t stop there. He begins to encourage himself in the Lord, speaking to his soul, telling himself to hope in God again. The psalmist reboots his faith & commits to praising the Lord, confident that the Lord will lift his soul & his countenance. He didn’t have God TV at the time, neither Christian radio, D.A.B, a pod cast, digital media, a cd, or any other device that could preach the word to him. The psalmist had a will to look to God & a voice to raise in praise to the Lord Most high. When we commit to praise the highest name, Jesus will lift our spirits & renew our hope, as we trust in the One who’s love will never fail. Praise causes us to look up, to Hope in God, to trust & wait for Him to sustain us through every season.
