Husband and Autistic Son

    Hi DAB family! I would like to ask a prayer request for my husband. He told me today that I ruined our autistic teen son, his own flesh and blood. For this reason, he validates or excuses his behavior towards him. Our son is so sweet, forgiving, intelligent, loving, and loves the Lord. He doesn’t understand why his father doesn’t want to spend time with him or treats him so mean. It hasn’t always been this way—when our son was younger, he was active and present. This all changed I guess when the autistic behaviors, which are not always visible, became apparent. I just pray that my husband’s heart be softened towards his son and that they can have the father-son relationship that God intended. That his eyes sees a child who was created perfectly by our Father. My son loves his dad so much. I keep reminding my son that he has a Heavenly Father who loves him unconditionally with no boundaries. Still, he wants a dad whose active and present. So my prayer is for awakening, Truth to be revealed, and an understanding of Grace and Love. Thank you!

    Dear Father God, bless this child with your abundant love. I pray too that you help this earthly father to relearn his original love for his son. Pour out, Holy Spirit, upon this family and restore them. In Jesus’s Name, Amen

    Heavenly Father, I stand before your throne in agreement with these prayers on behalf of this son and his father. You alone are able to change the hearts of men, and I ask you to release that power in the life of this husband and father. Soften his heart, and guide him in ways he can have a relationship with his son without resorting to anger and condescension. I pray that you would pour out your Holy Spirit on this family, and let the Spirit guide each person in how they can show love and respect for each other. Protect this son from any long term damage caused by the rejection of his father. Give the father eyes to see the effects of his actions. Let your Spirit fill this home with a spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation so that the evil one does not prevail. Raise up prayer warriors will fill the heavenly chambers with pleas on behalf of this family. Father, we wait expectantly for your healing.
