August 19, 2022 at 5:22 pmI truly need God’s Grace, Strength and enablement to make diet changes. Especially difficult because cooking is so hard for me being so crippled with arthritis. Meals on wheels has a lot of carbs. Sweets has always been my coping mechanism and comfort. Since the pandemic, I’ve eaten SO much comfort food, also ice cream, cookies, chips, etc. Also sandwiches because they’re easy. I’m about 40 lbs overweight which adds stress to my joints also and increases pain. A vicious cycle. Thank you. God bless.

August 19, 2022 at 11:58 pmOh, Lacey…as they say, “the struggle is real!” I do not like to “diet,” so I understand how difficult it is to change habits and eat healthy…BUT…with the Lord’s help, and a little patience, you CAN do this! The best results I ever had was when I reduced carbs and sugar. It’s really hard the first few days, but like everything else, if you can do it for 7-10 days, then it becomes easier–you won’t miss the carbs and sweets as much, and you can actually learn to enjoy the foods that are good for you. You can still scramble eggs and add bacon bits or chopped veggies or spinach and cheese for a simple breakfast. (There are even ways to do this in the microwave, or, make “muffins” in a batch so you can just heat and eat the rest of the week.) I use sandwich meat and cheese on salad greens, tuna packs, or even apples and peanut butter, for lunch–just go easy on the dressing. The protein is filling. Dinner is still a meat and veggies, so if you have any assistance with meal prep, you can cook a batch of chicken breasts all at once, and just add different spices or sauces to switch up the flavor, or cut it up and add to those salads. If you happen to like pickled beets, they’re awesome, low calorie super food, and no cooking involved. When I’m eating for one, I also buy the single serving veggie and fruit cups. There are soups that are low calorie, and that’s easy to prepare. Fruit can help stop some of the sugar cravings. It took me awhile to learn to enjoy this, but the zuchini “noodles” and rice can be a decent substitute for pasta. Drinking lots of lemon water is also a good thing to aid in weight loss, but also helps detox the body. If you just can’t do this, consider substitutes. For example, rather than eat a snack cake or big bowl of ice cream for desert, try a pudding cup. If you’re hungry, dip apple slices or berries in it for added fiber at fewer calories. Nuts make a good snack, b/c the protein will curb hunger. Drink water before meals. Try hot tea to replace a snack at night. I wish you well, and most importantly, let me pray with you right now: Father God, I come to you tonight to pray for my dear sister, Lacey, as she faces the challenge of changing her diet for the sake of her health. Lord, You know her weakness, her habits, her addictions, her needs…but we know that You can help her overcome, because You are our source of strength in all things. Remind Lacey to turn to YOU for Comfort, not food. Help her turn to YOU when she is tempted by things that are not good for her body. May she remember that her body is YOUR temple, so that she will want to care for it, and put only the best things in it, to keep it in good repair. Satan will tempt her, but keep her vigilant and mindful of what she intakes. Replace her desire for junk foods with a new love of healthier choices. You have told us that self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, and because your Spirit is in Lacey, we know she can do this! Bring people into her home who can assist her with the help she needs to make healthier eating possible. Together with Lacey, I speak VICTORY over this challenge so that she may give glory and honor to You, God, for giving her the will and way to make the change that she once thought would be impossible. We pray for these things in the name of our Source and Strength, Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN!

August 20, 2022 at 12:58 pmIm praying for u im studying to become a personal trainer i hope u can do what u need. The American health guidelines say something that can also help is reducing your sitting time by taking a 5 to 10 minute break from sitting every one to two hours so after two hours of sitting and watching TV go take a 5 to 10 minute walk and try to reduce the time sitting if you can also try eliminating added sugar in foods high in seed or vegetable oils

August 22, 2022 at 2:50 pmThank you for your prayers. I so appreciate them. Please continue. I also have diverticulitis so cannot eat anything with seeds, which includes all berries and whole grains. Being so crippled with arthritis limits my ability to walk and exercise. That’s how I gained weight. Please continue to uplift me. Life is a real challenge and getting thru each day. God bless.
