I .V. from MissouriPrayers: 4Requests: 7
November 3, 2017 at 10:05 amI’m so confused lately, I have 4 children, one of them has discovered God again in her life because of a site about ‘Flat Earthers’. I’m thrilled that she’s in love with the Lord again, but it has divided our family. Especially her siblings. We also have my 16 year old grand daughter living with us and she is searching for God in her life but also is confused. I think she believes, but the tensions our family now have is really upsetting. What do we do? My daughter has become an extremist and it makes the rest of us very nervous. She doesn’t believe we should be celebrating the holidays because of her beliefs. Help!!!!!! I need some answers.

November 3, 2017 at 11:23 amI do enjoy these questions. I think one answer briefly is the bible is a story book, stories told through generation. It is not a technical instruction manual, so my first answer is that lets consider its purpose. It book which all can relate to and understand and stories are accessible for all. Genesis itself would have been past down through generation. Aspects in Genesis like the earth was made in 7 days could be 7 God days e.g., for God a day is like a thousand years. I know I don’t answer your question will give it some thought over the weekend and I am sure there will be many on here replying. Until then I love David Pawson so may be consider and start with: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D_z3JgBvAVQ

November 4, 2017 at 11:48 pmHello,
I would do some research to see where she is coming from and how she arrived at her beliefs. I think it is always wise to treat peoples ideas with respect, whether or not we agree. That said, I see no reason why the rest of you shouldn’t go on practicing your faith and observing holidays. She is free to participate or not, but should not hold the rest of you hostage to her ideology. Do not allow anyone to separate you from what you know is true. Quietly, continue to live your Christian life daily, no matter what those around you do. Be respectful, but resolute and eventually, the controversy will lessen.
God Bless
Jill

November 5, 2017 at 1:07 amAmen Sister Jill.
I remember a youth at a church where I worked a while back came in with beliefs after reading a booked called love wins. One issue was that he believed no one needed to turn to Jesus to be saved. So we had a meeting where I brought forth my bible quotes to illustrate my perspective, I don’t remember one bible quote he brought to the meeting but I could not convince him, even even said others had said similar things to me. Anyway, for me that is a central issue because its like Moses in the desert and the snake (Numbers 21:9). For me everything comes back to the cross and the belief that Jesus died to save us and we need to turn to him to be saved. So past that and the implications of that I wonder if there is any point in raising this as an issue if she (at the moment) is not accepting your beliefs? If she wants to discuss then may be have a set time so it doesn’t dominate other parts of life. Will be praying fo you Tableletters. I pray in the counsel of other christians you will know for sure what God is saying. Amen. -
