July 29, 2022 at 1:15 pmMy “dream job” ended in May due to lack of staffing. I sort of moved up in the place, proving myself as I went. I took some time off and am now searching for another job and it is so discouraging. Please pray for His guidance. I accepted a job that is per diem so I can work what shifts I want but it truly is not where my heart is or what I want to do. Plus, I am going to be 60 in a few weeks. Not ready to stop working, not ready to retire, I feel as though I have a lot left to give. But I’m sure my age plays into the fact that I’m not hearing back from my inquiries into possible jobs. It is really discouraging. I feel as though I don’t have any skills, yet I know from my last job I do and I was good at what I did. But, I never went to college so I have no degree (was in missions and a stay at home mom for years before going back to work). I just feel inept.

July 30, 2022 at 7:36 amSweet Sister, you are in transition just like my husband and me. We are both 58 and understand the feelings that many are passing him over for new employment because of his age. I can relate to you because I have been a housewife and mother most of our marriage. I still have dreams-to become a writer, yet fulfilled. But God “commands our destiny!” Even if you take employment, that does not mean “forever.” Sometimes God uses temporary situations to eventually move us into our Promised Land. He is always working behind the scenes for our good. God is never finished with us and age is no factor to Him, but willingness and a heart to serve Him are. I’m praying that the years of experience, gifts and calling of God will bring you to your place of destiny. “You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.” Psalm 139:5
