February 21, 2023 at 2:56 pm“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. I think I’ve heard this said before but I’ve just noticed it again, that to fear or not to fear is a choice. Sometimes we don’t feel that we have a choice but Jesus says we do, according to the above verse. But like all things, practice makes perfect, or we could say, practice makes progress. Only God is perfect. We therefore can confess the secondary part of the scripture this way & affirm in faith. ‘I will not let my heart be troubled, neither will I be afraid’. ‘I will not be afraid’. Of course fear is one of faith’s enemies & in today’s reading Jesus says in the face of death, “Do not be afraid, only believe.” Imagine playing a card game, in some games, some cards are not needed, for example the ‘joker’ is sometimes laid aside. So today we can lay aside the (joker) card which represents fear & pick up the (King of faith) card. Fear is of the enemy, the (joker) card in which satan seeks to manipulate the game of life but faith can see through the ‘false evidence appearing real’ & play the card of faith which triumphs every time, even in the face of death. Faith in God welcomes in the Kingdom reign of God, which is: Righteousness, Peace & Joy. Thank You Jesus! Your faith wins over fear every time. And You graciously share Your faith with each of us, so that Your faith becomes ‘My faith’. And so we call You JESUS, the Author & Finisher of our faith.
