March 29, 2022 at 7:22 pmConsider who he is, what he has done
He reveals himself in his creation. As far as the eye and the mind can stretch, through the microscope and through the telescope, we see beauty, order and perfection except where the fall and sin have marred that.
He reveals himself in his Word. He has a plan to rescue man from the bondage of sin caused by the fall and bring him into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Christ, the Word, was made flesh and dwelt among us. He lived a sinless life showing himself to be a perfect sacrifice. He willingly offered himself up to die to pay the death penalty sin deserves on our behalf. He rose from the grave showing he conquered death. He ascended into heaven where he intercedes for us.
God calls us to be co-heirs with Christ. How can we even imagine that. John Eldredge has written a very small book, Epic, telling that in the midst of this amazing ongoing story of the gospel we have a crucial role to play. Incredible that that should be true. May God be equipping you and opening doors for you. This may be the day he needs you to step up.
He has made so many amazing promises to us. Lately I have been loving this one 2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. In the past I leaned heavily on Isaiah 41:10 when my sister could barely walk after a fall, Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Rejoice always: “How precious are thy thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them! if I should count them, they are more in number than the sand; and when I awake, I am still with thee,” Psal. 139. 17, 18. “My soul is filled as with marrow and fatness whilst I think upon thee,” Psalm 43. 5, 6.
Love is one of the gifts of the Spirit which gifts are given to serve God and men. “And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men, even as we do toward you,” 1 Thess. 3:12 We ask. We diligently study the Bible. We observe faithful men who have gone before us. We walk by faith, not be sight, trusting God is at work. We remember what God has done for us in the past and trust he has greater things still to do. We surrender things to the Lord. May His will be done. Otto Koning’s Pineapple Story is great lesson on surrender.
We remember Christ is coming back. Victory is promised. Richard Wurmbrand’s favorite verse was 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 “ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” He knew a lot about afflictions.
