February 5, 2023 at 9:09 pmMy name is MaryAnn and I am 43 years old. I lost my dad a little over a year ago and praise God that is finally drew me closer to Him. I am just wondering if anybody has a mental illness. I am bipolar and have been on meds for a long time. I was chatting with someone a few weeks ago and they told me if I truly trusted in God I would quit taking my meds. That scares me I KNOW I totally trust in God or growing very close to that. I just wanted to know how you guys think. I’ve been taking them everyday for 10 years and I was a huge mess without them before that.

February 5, 2023 at 11:02 pmHello, I have a couple family members who also are bipolar. Even though I myself am not, I have been around it all my life. I dislike when people say if you truly trusted God then you would….. (fill in the blank). It doesn’t quite work like that, everyone situation is different and everyone has their own relationship with the Lord. I am a person who believes that medicine is essential, I’m not saying that medicine is better than God or more important. God can do anything and everything! Medicine helps us especially if you have been taking them for a while and you know the person you can become without them. I have herniated disc, arthritis, and scoliosis all down my back I have to take my pain medicine, it’s not because of lack of trust that I take them but because they help me. Don’t take what that person said to heart, and don’t be scared you are doing great! It takes a lot of courage and strength to even take medications for a mental illness. I pray that God continues to guide and watch over you!
