March 24, 2024 at 5:48 amFor the Christians of the world, today is Palm Sunday. The day our Lord made Hs triumphal entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, to the shouts of “Hosanna in the highest!!” from the people who would demand His death just a few days later. When I think about everything He went through , it not only boggles my mind, but my spirit quells and shrinks away from the suffering that He endured. Every drop of sweat and blood that must have stung His eyes in the garden. Every slap across the face as He stood in from of an illegal Jewish council. And then the beating at the hands of the Romans! Every sting (now it’s getting hard to go on 😞) of that cat o’ nine tails with little bits of bone or metal at the ends biting into His flesh until it was like bloody hamburger. Every hair of His beard that was pulled out. Every thorn that pierced His head as they jammed those inches-long thorns on that mocking “crown” down on His head. Standing in front of that crowd, with sweat dripping into those wounds, knowing that they would choose a murderer over Him. Every agonizing step carrying that heavy cross to where He would die, with the cloth of what he wore stocking to those open wounds and pulling broken flesh. Did our Lord, in the weakness of blood loss, loss of sleep, and hunger and thirst feel like His weak human body couldn’t take one more step? Then every swing of the hammer piercing those nails through His hands/wrists and feet, then being swung to an upright position and thunk!! the drop into the hole that held the cross upright-how did THAT vibrate every agonized nerve in His body? Arms spread wide, feet on a narrow piece of wood, just enough to push up on to take every agonizing breath with His raw back rubbing against that rough wood. Watching soldiers gamble for His clothing, and people jeering at Him to come down if He was the son of God. The Son of God looked at them knowing that this was the only way. And then. AND THEN. The UNKNOWABLE, UNIMAGINABLE HORROR, the AGONY!! of being separated from HIS FATHER, from whom He had NEVER been separated in ALL OF ETERNITY. “Father, into Your hand I give My spirit. IT IS FINISHED!” Darkness. Over the WHOLE WORLD. The veil of the temple TORN. From TOP to BOTTOM. Inches thick. Impossible for man. NOT for GOD. Did it have to be this way? Yes, it did. There was NO. OTHER. WAY. Would I have it any other way that could have spared the life of an INNOCENT MAN, the Son of God, THE Son of THE ONE GOD, OUR God? My human mind SCREAMS at the injustice and a feeble attempt to understand all this agony. But NO-the answer is NO-not if it (and the “it” is beyond this likewise feeble attempt to tell) gets me to stand in the presence of MY SAVIOR for ALL ETERNITY so that I can WORSHIP HIM IN GRATITUDE for loving ME, ME!! enough to endure that!! Oh, three days later!! Glory to GOD in the HIGHEST!! Thank You for the cross Where Your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down Rid me of myself, I belong to You! Lead me, lead me to the cross.

March 24, 2024 at 8:05 amfamily, Heavenly Father, Thank you for the incredible gift of grace that you have bestowed upon us. We are humbled and grateful for your unmerited favor, for loving us despite our shortcomings and mistakes. Your grace is truly amazing for 🙏 Unmerited Favor + Salvation + Transformation + Acceptance + Love + Extending to Others= Grace🙏 Lord, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the salvation you have given us through your son, Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that it is only through your grace that we have been saved, and we surrender our lives to you, seeking your guidance and transformation. Father, we ask for your grace to abide in our lives, that we may be constantly reminded of your acceptance and love. Help us to embrace our identity as your children, knowing that we are deeply cherished and valued by you. May your grace empower us to overcome challenges, to grow in faith, and to live a life that honors you. Teach us to extend grace to others, just as you have extended it to us. Grant us the ability to forgive, to show compassion, and to love unconditionally. May our lives be a reflection of your grace, shining your light into a world that desperately needs it. Thank you, Lord, for the immeasurable grace that surrounds us. We trust in your grace to carry us through every season of life, knowing that your love and favor are sufficient. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
