Lord, I lift up Jennifer and her family to You. She has lost so much of her ability to function freely as a wife, mom, and health care worker. I can imagine how lost she must feel with so much of her life of independence and being able to care for herself and others being taken away by this accident. This is a lot to deal with, Lord! I pray that You would heal Jennifer’s physical body. Bring new medical treatments to mind for her doctors to try. Reduce scar tissue and inflammation in her body. Knit together that which was damaged with her fall. Help her to manage her pain, and even take it away completely. I pray also for Jennifer’s mind, emotions, and spirit. Help her to be encouraged that You are with her every moment of the day. Help her to rest in Your sovereignty…that You ultimately will use this time of infirmity for her good and Your glory, even if our human eyes can not discern how…Help Jennifer not to lean on her own understanding. Do a work in her heart through this difficult time that transcends the pain and frustration of being so limited in what she can physically do. Create in her a new identity, a new mission field, a new purpose that allows her to be productive in Your Kingdom. It may look very different from what she saw as her identity based on the physical care she was able to give as a wife, mom and worker. Provide for Jennifer creative ways to interact with and care for her family. Put a love inside her for her husband and children and love of them for her that overflows in such that there is no denying this is a supernatural love that binds them together as a family. Let the fruit of the Spirit flow freely through her family toward each other- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control. Provide for a time of mourning what used to be, and work in the heart of each family member as they do this. Help each member of the family overcome discouragement, disappointment, impatience with the fire of Your Spirit burning brightly within. Send helpers to assist Jennifer with the tasks she is not able to do on her own right now. Help her family to be innovative in coming up with ways she can do things differently, and how each member of the family can contribute to the running of the household together. Build character and bring unity as this family learns a different way to live. And if it be Your will, Lord, restore Jennifer’s health completely, in Your perfect timing. Teach her and her family to praise You through this storm, for You have overcome sickness and injury that are in this fallen world with the death and resurrection of Your Son Jesus, in whose name I pray, Amen!
