please pray for my marraige

    please pray for my marriage of 35 years which has never been healthy. God brought the miracle of sobriety to my husband 8 tears ago, but my husband and i have each done so much to undermine our relationship, and we both struggle with depression at times. i dont think we ever really learned how to be a team. i am so tired of trying, and I’m sure he is too! Please pray God’s hand over us. help. Thank you

    Dear Colleen, Remember Pastor Gene’s words the counselor spoke when her marriage was in trouble. “You can be right, or you can be married. I don’t think you can do both.” Something like that. Check with her on facebook. Even those of us who are not married need to learn to surrender. May Jesus reign in our hearts. Now until he returns. Merry Christmas.

    Definitely agree with what Sister Shirley said above…that advice was great. But sometimes, especially after there has been an addiction problem,one of both of you could be holding on to hurt or anger that you have half buried. Those things need to be brought to light and forgiven. Forgiving is an act of will…we can’t do it without prayer and God’s grace. It’s also better done with a Christian counselor or pastor…even a good Christian friend to act as a spirited advisor. I pray, that like Pastor Gene, all will be restored to you and your husband. Remember love has serious ups and downs…it’s commitment that acts like the four-day wheel- drive when love gets stuck. It’s God’s grace to put the desire in our hearts to persevere. I’ll pray💙

    Dear Lord Jesus,
    Please bring in hope for this marriage. Please help them seek and pursue the fruits of your Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Please help forgiveness and forbearance bring joy. Lord please help them step back and understand the evil one works to destroy marriages and that the battle is often not with the flesh. Lord help your love rule in their hearts and help them give up themselves for each other. Lord bless them as they seek you and follow you. Thank you for listening and blessing this situation. Amen.

    Such good advice! Also hold hands with your husband and tell each other what attracted you both to each other in the first place. And start reading God’s word and praying together every day.
