October 9, 2018 at 4:59 pmDear DAB Family,
We are NOT trying to be mean. We have tried to be patience and gracious with a woman who is currently occupying a four bedroom house that we brought ,in July 2018, for our son.
However, the tenant and our former property manager (contract terminated Sunday) worked together manipulating us,. Since August, we were repeatedly told, by the occupant and the property manager, that the occupant is “going to pay us as soon as she has the money” .
As of today, Tuesday, October 9, we obtained a new property management company who is implementing the eviction process tomorrow. I also obtained a real estate attorney concerning the conduct of the former property management company.
For that, we are grateful.
Yet, I am sadden and having a hard understanding how someone can think they can stay anywhere for free?!
My husband and I have been talking to each other about , “What is God showing us about this situation? What lesson(s) are we suppose to learn? What steps are we to avoid in the future?” and ” What God wants us to do in the future about investing in property?”
One thing for sure is, we are going to need a solid property management company.
If anyone in the DAB Family knows of a website that grade Property Management firms or companies, would you please be so kind to let us know. I would love to do my research before hiring one.
I also believe that “the location ” that we purchase property can make a difference. My husband purchased an apartment building in a municipality in Illinois that makes prospective tenants go to the police station, present ID and get fingerprinted if necessary. Our property manager there is good. Besides vetting tenants the city perform landlord checks also.
Thank you DAB Family. Whew, I feel better just writing this letter.
Please, pray that God continues to bless us with wisdom and gives us peace about our investing. Let us be led by the Holy Spirit into what decisions we are going to make about our financial future and legacy we are leaving behind for our children. Amen
Kathy From Beautiful Camano Island, Washington
P.S. I am interested in a 20 unit apartment building in that city and it would give me peace of mind to know tenants have been vetted and that our property manager is professionally managing our property!
My husband is interested in purchasing land and possibly another house here, on Camano Island.
I want us both to be on the same page. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha …

My husband and I are so thankful to God for the peace that we have today . We are thankful that the new property management company has been professional and followed through with our request to begin eviction proceedings due to nonpayment of the current occupant.
Moving forward, we our go to listen very closely to what God is tell us as far as investing for our retirement and family’s legacy.
Thank you once again; you guys are great!

October 14, 2018 at 10:18 pmLord, please work this out for their good and your glory. Guide this sister and her husband as they invest in the simple and the difficult. Help them to make sense out of the chaos they are in the midst of so that they may hear your voice and be lead by your Spirit. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen

October 15, 2018 at 12:35 pmThank you Thespaatsaintnouveau,
Your prayer really meant a lot to me.
Yes we have a heart for people.
Thank you for declaring a new level of blessings and opportunities for ministry.
Every since we have come out to live on the West Coast, it has been an adventure, to say the least! It’s quite a different standard of living than Cleveland, Ohio or rural Vermont. It’s not a typical city block of urban America or the typical “rural” America here, that’s for sure. If you would have told me ten years ago…even five years ago…that I would be living on an island and have a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean looking at the Cascade Mountains from my house among multi-millionaires and see people, my husband and my age and older, in good health, enjoying the latter years of their lives, I would have said, “Really!? Right!” But now, it gives me joy, hope and encouragement to walk and talk with my neighbors who are ordinary people just like us but who have just lived this life on the island a little longer than my husband and I. It has given me confirmation also that you can have wealth and still praise the Lord and do His work.
Yes, please continue to praise His name. We will continue to thank God for Jesus to intercede for us with all the challenges, test and journeys before us.
Victory is ours!
Thank you…Love you

October 15, 2018 at 9:48 pmDear William Johnson,
Thank you for your prayer.
Thank you for specifically asking the Holy Spirit to lead us into invest not only in real estate but also in people. Because, people have souls, people are important.
One thing that we have learned, as landlords is that not only are we responsible for maintaining our property how God would want us to maintain it, but we have an obligation to be responsible owners and treat our tenants the way we would want to be treated and give God the glory.
We thank God for entrusting us with properties and we are working to be good stewards.
Thank you once again Brother
Love,
Sister Kathy -
