February 29, 2020 at 7:48 amI’m grateful for a place to ask for prayer: My husband struggles with ADHD, OCD, & schizoeffective/bipolar disorder. Up to this point with meds and professional help, he’s been able to work for 20+ years, but now he doesn’t have that confidence anymore. He’s discouraged as the future is unclear and qualifying for disability doesn’t seem possible. The good news is that in this time off from work he recommitted his life to God through baptism. But every day is still a challenge. My son is a freshmen in college and he also suffers from bipolar disorder/anxiety/depression. He is struggling and yet learning how to be more independent. He has support at school but he’s failing classes and it discourages him. My younger son, a senior in HS, gets lost in the shuffle as he probably feels minimized. He keeps to himself. This is the first year we’ve been able, as parents, to direct most of our attention on him, as our older son is away in college. And me – to be a good and better wife and mom. I get fearful, tired, resentful, and more as I feel the responsibility. I forget how far God has brought us so far which is very far!

February 29, 2020 at 8:45 amLord we lift up this family unto You. Heal the minds of them all. Fill them with Your hope and joy. Let them see Your hand in all that they do. Let them put on the ‘mind of Christ’ and stand against the afflictions of their mental health. Bless them all and lift up the their grades as well. In Jesus name, amen.

March 1, 2020 at 11:37 amHello, Mental health struggles have touched my family as well, and I would like to encourage you to reach out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, (NAMI). They have separate free support groups and classes for family members and those with a diagnosis that have changed our lives. Visit nami.org and search for your closest local affiliate. You will find loving and compassionate people with lived experience who will walk beside you. I pray that God will guide you to people who can help you walk this difficult and sometimes lonely road. May He continue to cover you and bless you as you all recover together.
