Hello Mike, I know the terrible feeling of depression well. Been there. The Lord many years ago delivered me from a very serious case of depression. A case so severe that on #3 different occasions, I attempted to take my own life. It wasn’t until years latter after becoming born again, that I learned how, and where depression comes from. Though it can be from an imbalance of chemicals in the body. What the Lord showed me was my depression was the cause of demonic influences at work. The Bible tells us that our adversary the devil, comes not for but to steal, kill, and to destroy. (Jn. 10:10) I struggled for years, had I known this truth sooner, I would have been able to “with the Lords help” defeat the oppressive feelings of depression. I pass this along because I don’t know where you are in your spiritual journey. I share this in the hopes that you will come to the realization the there is an enemy. and he’s real. It became so clear after becoming a Christian, and the Holy Spirit took up residence in me. That the thoughts I was having were from the enemy. They were at first marginal. then slowly over time, they became oppressively worse, to the point, I became willing to end it all.
Friend, the enemy is a thief, and a lier. He will do everything that he can do to take us out. He hates mankind in general, and Christians especially. He attacks us in our thoughts. It’s true when said, the battle is in the mind. The Bible clearly teaches this, that we are to guard our hearts, and minds. I pray that you catch on to this early. and you don’t fall pray to Satan’s lies like I did. Get into God’s Word, and stay in His Word, and pray that He lead you to the truth of why you are feeling the way that you are. God will show you, He’s for You and not against you.
The Bible teaches that we are to know our adversary the devil. Know his tactics and strategies. We are not to be ignorant of his devices. We are to equip ourselves by putting on the full armor of God (Eph.6:10-17). I pray, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory✨ to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man (Eph. 3:16). That you come to see that the second part of (Jn. 10:10), and it becomes a reality that you walk in. Where He says, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
I pray that you come to understand the authority that your heavenly Father has imparted to you. (Lu. 10:19) “Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by ant means hurt you.” If you are a born again son of the “Living God”, then these promises belong to you. My prayer is that you come to understand that you can rise up yourself and take authority, “in Jesus name”, over the spirit of depression and command it to leave you alone. I pray that God gives you decrement as to how the enemy works. And how when we submit ourselves to God “and the authority of His Word” And resist the devil, then the enemy must flee. I pray, that you come to know who you are in Christ. And that the enemy is under your feet. Your big brother Jesus defeated him, stripped away the keys to death, and hell. I pray that you know, and understand that greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. And that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Mike, I pray that all be well with you.
