My dad recently sent a very harsh letter to my wife, which devastated her, and now we do not feel like we can be around him or my mom at this point – until he gives us some indication that he understands what he did, and commits to stop that sort of thing. I have spoken with him several times, hoping he will see how his actions affected us, but he simply does not (or will not) face it. I love my dad, and I want to bring my wife and kids to visit them, but he is the kind of person who says whatever he wants no matter how harsh it comes across, and then expects everything to continue as normal. I don’t want to continue staying away from them but I will not take my wife and kids around him if this is the sort of treatment I can expect them to be subjected to. I’m also scared this will go on forever, and they aren’t getting any younger. My dad is hard headed, and my wife and I are becoming hard hearted toward them. Please pray for this situation. We need to forgive him. And he needs to accept that he’s wronged someone before we can trust him enough to be around him again. Please pray for us. Thank you!
