May 22, 2018 at 11:52 amI’ve requested prayer for my son in the past. He is now 23, still living with us, not working (but applying for jobs). He is not diagnosed, but I know he is struggling with mental illness. His thinking has become less & less clear. To make things worse, he’s alienated himself from all his friends (and scared them—not by threats, but just the way he talks), goes to church very inconsistently, and has just about cut himself off from most of the world.
I’ve prayed for the past 10 years, and every day for the past year especially. He’s seen counselors in the past, but it was before things got noticeably worse, so was never diagnosed. I’ve begged him to get counseling, and even my husband (psychiatry’s biggest opponent) told him he needs counseling, to no avail. He’s mentioned wanting to talk to our pastors (one of whom he has a good rapport with), but has not pursued anything regular or formal.
I’m at my wits end, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve had seasons of being mad at God for not answering my prayers, but I’m personally in a much better place spiritually. But what do I do? How do I protect others (including my family) from his craziness? How do I protect him from himself?
I just wish that a miracle could heal his mind.PraiseHimPrayers: 1075Requests: 110
May 22, 2018 at 5:15 pmDear Mother, I’m very sorry to hear about what you and your family are going through. I am happy to pray.
Father, I ask You to move in this situation. Give the parents wisdom. Assure them that You see, You know and You care. You love this son. What comes to my mind is that since this son has some relationship with a Pastor and may be willing to talk to him, this should happen. I ask that You prepare the Pastor’s heart- give him wisdom and discernment. I ask that You direct his parents to speak to the Pastor and request a time for him to come and speak to their son and pray with him. I pray You would let this happen and let it be You reaching out to him and connecting with him. Oh Father, all I’m asking is that You intervene. His Mom asks for healing and so do I. Just today You know how I told my son that Jesus told his disciples that those who believe in Him would do the things He did and even greater things. I asked him why so many didn’t do many greater things like heal the sick, give sight to the blind and raise the dead. He replied, he didn’t know. I said maybe it’s because they don’t really believe it or maybe it’s that they’ve tried before and it didn’t work so they give up. I don’t know the answer myself, but I hear Your Word and I believe it. I believe in Jesus and will prove Him right by my actions. Mother, I say to you, don’t doubt only believe that God will heal your son’s mind. Son I say to you, be healed in Jesus’ Name. Mind be restored and renewed by the power of the living, almighty, God of heaven and earth. I speak life to you. I speak complete health and wholeness. Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the world heals you! Get up and walk. Go tell people what He’s done for you. Give God the glory! Go and heal others in His Name. Go get a job where you can serve others and earn a living for yourself- one that will bless you and others. Celebrate with your parents and take them out to dinner! Throw a party!! The light of the world has come and lives in you!! I believe it!! Thank You Jesus!! I praise You, Father!! I thank You for Your good plans!! I thank You for drawing people to Yourself and building Your church- Your people, our family that will live forever! That’s what we were made for! I celebrate You!! I pray all this in Jesus’ Name. Amen and Amen!!
I will be looking for your praise report, Mother. I will watch and wait for it!! Rejoicing with you and your family at what God has done already!!! Shalom.
