Struggling with Anorexia đź’™

    Hi DAB family! I’m writing today asking for prayer, my heart and mind has been weighed down with incessant and obtrusive thoughts surrounding anorexia. I have thoughts like “you’re fat, you’re ugly, you need to lose weight, you need to skip meals” constantly. I mean all day long. I lost a lot of weight earlier this year but then started doing better, I’ve been gaining weight after I started taking an antidepressant since I have my appetite back, but it’s been making me anxious and wanting to restrict again. I know I’m beautiful and enough, I don’t know why I keep experiencing these impulses. Please pray for me to find community with others in the midst of such an isolating issue. And help me accept my body exactly the way it is. I keep wanting to get thin again like I did earlier this year or thinner… it’s scary and I’m frightened by my own mind. Thank you for the prayers.     Oh sweet Asia, when the spiraling cyclone of destructive thoughts take over our minds, it is so hard to put the breaks on. Lord, Holy Spirit, Asia is asking for your help. Teach her, prompt her to take control of every thought. Give her concrete things to do to dismiss, evacuate, to terminate, to cancel those thoughts that are destructive and not life giving. For me dear Asia, I learned saying “cancel, cancel “ after every negative and destructive thought helpful. In the beginning I was saying it hundreds of times a day. Jesus I ask along with Asia all these things. In Jesus name amen

    Asia, I pray that you begin to RECOGNIZE the REAL you (in Jesus) is not the one who wants to be underweight, under nourished, unhealthy… challenge those thoughts!ALMIGHTY God and Father please help Asia SEE Your perspective (TRUTH) in this part of her thinking; to take her thoughts captive to be obedient and thereby blessed to live in powerful, effective and lasting freedom. Thank YOU Jesus! Thank Father. You NEVER leave or forsake us. May we ever continue to strive to live in alignment with You. Praise You for your mercy and grace!! Amen

    Hi Asia, You were one of the consistent voices when I first started listening to DAB. I’ve missed your check-ins. My daughter struggled with eating disorders since high school and one of her best friends has nearly died from it several times. That is to say I know how hard this is. As an addict my self, I surrender daily – which I realize is the same as “taking thoughts captive”. My daughter and her friend are well, and are happy – so it can be defeated. And I know you can defeat it as well. I will stand in prayer with you, Grace and peace to you. I hope to hear you soon. db

    Dear sister Asia, Your prayers for us here in the DAB community have touched many hearts, mine included. We love you, and appreciate the heart you have for the Lord, and His people. As to your request. We know the Bible teaches, the battle is in our minds. This is where the enemy dishes out his lies. We all go through this, the enemy is relentless in his attack. Always poking. and prodding to see if he can find an opening. He endeavors to see if we know who we are in Christ. And if we understand the authority we have been given. We’ve been given absolute authority over the devil. Jesus striped him of his authority. We need to remind ourselves of this daily. And we need to keep him under our feet. By using the weapons of our warfare. The WORD OF GOD! is our weapon!
    Jesus when tempted in the wilderness. Left us an example. He said after each temptation, IT IS WRITTEN! Three times, Jesus, used the WORD to defeat him.
    2 Cor 10: 4,5.
    4) ( For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but MIGHTY! through God to the pulling down of strongholds;).
    5) CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ.

    Praying that every thought the enemy attempts to get you to accept. You will learn to cast down. And that the Holy Spirit empowers you to recognize the enemies tactics. Someone once said, that when the lying thoughts come from the enemy. And they land on our head, like a bird. We don’t have to let it build a nest and allow it to remain there.

    8)”Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just whatsoever things are pure,
    whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS.
    9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you.

    Dear Lord we know that your word is powerful and sharper than a two edged sword we pray this verse for Asia I join with her in the victory that can come through your word through this promise through this principle and through the power of the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Dear Lord we know that all that prompts Asia to violate her body through anorexia is negative based on fear and doubt. By the promises of your word and the presence of your Holy Spirit may she be delivered and recognized fear when it stands up against her faith and not obey the fear or the doubt. Strengthen her with your grace. May she glorify you with her love and life living for you wanting to please you and thank you Jesus

    Father God, I pray for Asia that she learns to put on the full armor of God on a daily basis in order to thwart the fiery darts of the enemy. The phrase “Armor of God” is derived from Ephesians 6:11: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” I suggest that you read a good book “Battlefield of the Mind”, by Joyce Meyer.

    Dear Lord thank you for this sweet loving kindness that you have given Asia as she knows your perfect love for her. She is so unique in every way there is no other like her. You have given her gifts and talents to glorify your name. In the loving name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray.
