Lisa M in OregonPrayers: 1Requests: 1
March 12, 2020 at 9:17 amI believe in Christ and in the holiness of his life and mission. I’ve been a DAB listener since 2006 and a Christian all my life. Lately, I’ve been struggling to reconcile what I read in the Bible with what I see in the world. I see lots of pain and death and I don’t understand why God requires our prayers to change it and whether our prayers really change much. When I look at fossils and how it take tons of time to “become” a fossil I can’t square that with the timeline for life that I see in the Bible. I know other people have more serious issues than I do, but I have been struggling with this for so long I finally decided I had to say something and see if our DAB family has any good answers.

March 12, 2020 at 11:27 amLisa! You have good questions and you are brave. Lord, bless Lisa and put her in a faith community where she can take all her questions and work them out, measuring them against Your Word. The passages read today showed how prayers did change what was going to happen. Sometimes prayer changes us more than our circumstances, and that’s okay. Blessings on you, sis. ~gail

March 13, 2020 at 2:58 amLusa, my sister. Your questions are the same ones I have asked so may times in my 20 + years of wrestling with my own faith. Did you know that the name (Israel) given to Jacob and to Gods chosen people means to “wrestles or contends with God” ? So, wrestle on sister. God hears you, He sees you and will answer you. You may pull away or even loose your faith for a time but God is ever faithful and will draw you to Him as always. The Bible and scientific fact are not mutually exclusive. Our scientific understanding of this natural world is always changing but God remains faithful, ageless and unchanging. May He bless you and keep you as you contend with your faith. I love you as a kindred spirit in our search for truth. I have come to understand that truth is a person and His Name is Jesus. May revelation and joy explode in your world. In Jesus Name. Amen!

March 13, 2020 at 4:02 amPS: A question I have asked myself – ‘how can the kingdom of Heaven be at hand when there is so much hell all around?’ – Answer I have been given : ‘it is the glimpses of Gods kingdom and the assurance of what is coming that makes the rest bearable’. As Brian prays often: “come Holy Spirit and give us eyes to see Your kingdom at work in and around us. ‘ In Jesus Nsme. Amen. Peace be upon you Lisa. Hope these posts bless you in some way my sister.

March 13, 2020 at 5:47 amI was fascinated with your points on fossils and time. The “time” clock did not start ticking until sin entered into the picture. Life on earth was happening and man walked with God in timelessness and wholeness. When sin entered in and time started to tick, death also entered into the picture. The coming of Christ at the end of this age is the end of this “time” as we know it. At that point the earth as will have its own death and will experience its own rebirth. It is all so amazing! Go deeper, search. He has given you an inquisitive mind. Science is the study of the artistry of God, and comes under the umbrella of His creativity.
